    That's interesting, because my understanding was that you had direct and indirect BBQing based on the type of food being cooked.

    From reading though Which? they seemed to think that gas BBQs with the flavouriser bars / lava rocks burnt the fat indirectly and gave the same smoke effect that you get from a traditional BBQ.

    Ill look into the Green Mountain Grill, but my initial thoughts are that I'm not really sure I want to spend $750-1,000 on an outdoor cooking device.

    James is right. BBQ is only indirect heat. Everything else is grilling. There is a time and place for both.

  • Ah OK. So this is a "chains don't stretch" kinda debate.

    I'm just going to throw this out there...
