73.6% of all statistics are made up.

your made up.

All the other 'threats' are at least another level of severity and they're pretty quiet in the UK.
I understand that the resurgence of Irish paramilitary groups isn't great but by all accounts they're a bunch of idiots. -
• #40680
Are you giving it 150% with that comment?

Theresa May suffers from boy-who-cried-wolf syndrome. I can't take anything she says seriously because she's an alarmist partisan who uses suffering and war for political advantage.
And, of course, this:

Turns out there was a new page.

One prison officer died due to a car bomb.
No problems during the 1916 Easter Rising celebrations
A few shootings, which is worrying, but none were claimed and can simply be
1 - criminal wars
2 - unassorted paramilitaries also known as scumbags (they're still a problem in some areas with extortion rackets and general assholery)Now there is still semtex about and guns. These idiots are not yet gone and the PSNI is right to sound the alarm. But colour me unimpressed for now.
I'm more worried about the standards of driving here :P
But perhaps this is a ploy for another Stormont crisis with the "but you guys don't have your Republican paramilitaries in order" Q much farting about and things going under the radar...

That^ it's a terrain with enough fertiliser for bringing to life a new page.
And we can't be sure that you're informed on every aspect of everything.
But, just maybe. -

At least we're talking about good proper British terrorists for a change.
-
• #40686
At the very least.

• #40687
Well, they have to first prove it though.

I merely live in Belfast. My two cents but of course there could be a very real threat.
-
• #40689
They all have Irish passports no doubt ;)
(Anyone born here automatically qualifies) (unless the unionist nutters also join but no word of them in news on threat)

If you forrins aren't going to get irony, I'm voting Brexit.
-
• #40691
Noo please no, on that one it's Cameron who said that that too can bring war.
But on this one The Telegraph say that he's probably right.
-
• #40692
I assumed not everyone knows about the passport situation (perhaps wrongly)
NI UKIP already suggested that the English army should be sent down to guard the borders, just in case of a Brexit...not a hint of irony there.

Catching up on yesterday's Channel 4 news.
Am I alone in finding canal boat dwellers to be just a bit too smug and entitled to feel much sympathy for their cause? -

What an irredeemable shithead.

I'll be surprised if somebody hasn't murdered Zimmerman within the next few years.

Firstly, please don't go making sweeping generalisations. The canals are home to an extremely diverse population. Much like anywhere else really. I've just watched that clip - who did you think was particularly smug? Maybe knowing their side of the story a bit better means I don't see the smugness?
The problem is that they're actually right. CRT are making up rules and enforcing them without making it clear what their expectations are. Then when people "break" the made up rule they get sent letters threatening eviction etc. When those people seek clarification on how they can comply they are given vague answers (because CRT know they can't legally give a specific answer).
There are quite a few of people who have been fighting this fight for a long time, they're in the right and they know it. It's only recently that there has been any sort of press coverage.
The details are long and boring, but I could fill you in via PM if you're really interested?

^ totally this. I have a few friends that live on Canal Boats up North.
The yawn, it's been all quiet on the western front for a long time so raising the threat level is hardly yawn worthy.
