  • Very nice. about to buy one myself. how long was delivery?

  • Found a seller on Amazon, so next day with Prime

  • I got the grey ultralight 2 man on ali express. Delivery was about a week from China. About £65 for a 1200g tent. Seems to good to be true. Time will tell!

  • My only criticism so far is that there needs to be a mid-panel guy-line to pull the fly away from the inner a bit more, it could be a problem in higher winds.

  • Have you seen this video. He says the same thing, but is clearly a clever hiker and made just what you describe...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZOhHpiZ9_oA

I'm going to do the lashing thing he describes on the pole ends, but not sure I want to risk ruining it by attempting the extra guy line...

  • I did see that, I haven't had any problems with the poles, but I've subsequent wrapped the ends in gorilla tape which I'd imagine will be a bit better than lashing.

  • i actually bought this one in the end:
    http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0171JU2P0/ref=pd_luc_rh_sbs_01_04_t_img_lh?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1
its a little heavier/sturdier but shouldnt have the same problem. couldnt see it on prime anywhere though so its standard delivery. we'll see!

  • i think i'm going to carbon/epoxy the ends of the poles as i have some lying around not doing anything

  • its only a little bigger in all directions:

    x 215 vs 210 = 5cm longer
    y 132 vs 125 = 7cm wider
    z 105 vs 100 = 5cm taller

other than the porches i think its freestanding too which might come in handy

  • gorilla tape is amazing

  • New bivi arrived, seems even bigger than my old one, with a larger mouth. Tempted to buy hoop tent poles and rig it into a diy hooped bivi

  • Just placed an order for a Moment DW. Looking forward to it arriving and giving it a bikepack test! Should be just in time for a southern hemisphere winter too.

  • Always wanted one of those, look great.

  • I got it with the CF poles too...because I live on the other side of the planet and custom poles are just as expensive if not more to get here.

My main criteria for choosing it were (in order of importance):

    1. Minimal peg requirements for non-freestand, as the area I camp in is clay/rock/gravel
    2. Very good at venting
    3. Can be made freestanding
    4. Not too pricey
    5. Light

    Can't wait!

  • Look roomy too, that's what I liked.
    And real light.

Let me know how it is, durability wise.

  • That Aliexpress tent looks good for the money. Currently in a claustrophobic Gelert Solo i've modded slightly. About 1300g now and fits in a 3l seatpack. But it's really too small.

  • I'm thinking of buying a 50m roll of Permavent to use as ground sheet, would anyone of you like to buy some at £1 per metre?

  • Sounds good. What width is the roll?

  • It's 1m wide.

I'll place an order and start a classifieds thread.

  • Bought and received the 'bow stick' tent pole from a dutch hooped bivi bag. Those hooped bags are super expensive, so am DIY'ing a quick fix to a regular bivi I got cheap, so I can lift it off the face with a pole when needed.

  • Initially positive thoughts on the Decathlon Quickhiker 2 tent after three nights' use between two of us. It's cosy but we did manage to squeeze four panniers and stuff in the side bit so plenty of sleeping room. Dead easy to pitch and pack away, <2kg and sits nicely on a rear rack. And cheap!

(^ The compression straps on the outer bag were handy for securing a couple of sleeping mats which both fit inside my Alpkit mat bag.)

  • Looks like something similar to a scarp?
