Is it time to start calling out bad cyclists?

  • it distinguished him from others.. I couldn't give a fuck if he was or was not wearing a helmet. It had no reflection on why I was calling him out.

  • Guy on the OKR on an old geared merckx in dhb bibs sped up as we came towards stationary traffic before diving up the left of left indicating stuff just before a sideroad and then failing to shoulder check and cutting up a motorbike filtering between the lanes of traffic.

Fantastic effort, keep up the good work.

  • I had to laugh earlier tonight when a fast roadie on a Condor overtook me on Mare Street. He was in the drops.

  • HoW DARE YOU TELL ME TO WEAR A HELMET I'M A PERSON ON THE INTERNET AND I'M UPSET RAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA

  • How dare him, how very dare him.

  • Was he wearing an avalanche transceiver?

Volcano detectors are the safety device du jour.

Although I have volcano insurance, so I'm not too fussed.

  • Ha, I always see that guy on the orange/white bike riding like a tit on the OKR/NKR too. Slow on the open road but takes a lot of arsehole risks.

  • I need a 2nd OKR opinion @Antidotes what do you think?

  • As I'm someone that prefers riding solo, the OKR/NKR drag strip is heaven for me. I can batter up and down it every weekday rush hour at my leisure. There's loads of straight main road with plenty of places to get some rapid speed up, tones of fun.

I'm just always mindful of dodging suicide peds and not spooking motorists, especially HGV drivers. Being polite and having manners on the road is just how I conduct myself and I get treated with respect in return.

You're doing it right, but I've never seen that guy on the white/orange before though, must be on different shifts.

Also I don't ride on the pavement because peds.

Incredible image stabilising on that go pro though man!

  • I see that guy by Peckham on the OKR in the mornings, think he's about 10 minutes ahead of you

  • Not my video just a random guy on my subscriptions.

  • Yeah, I enjoy it too. There are some days when it's kinda gridlocked, or you just hit every red light, but on the days when it's clear you can just absolutely cane it (safely) both ways. There's a few dodgy bits and a lot of lorries and coaches, but if you ride sensibly (i.e. not like the guy in the video above), then it's fine.

I'm on it most days, so say hi if you spot a tall guy on a blue Kinesis.

  • I completely agree with you and yes it can totally jam up, especially in the evenings.

If your Kinesis is the size of a small horse then I have definitely spotted you.

Recently I have been on a dark green Brooklyn but now I'll be prominently on a black Boardman TK pro with fenders, I'll look out for you!

  • If your Kinesis is the size of a small horse then I have definitely spotted you.

Ha, yeah that sounds about right. I'll keep an eye out too :)

I find the worst bits are coming off the flyover heading east and the bit past the train bridge heading east before new cross.

On the other hand, I recently did a commute all the way home from victoria to new cross (7ish miles) at an avg of 19.2mph. I think I only hit 2 reds the whole way. Definitely a rarity though (and a mild #boastpost).

  • called someone out this morning at Kennington Park Rd/Kennington Lane/Newington Butts junction. 4/5 cyclists including me waiting at the lights, guy on a hybrid decides he knows better and wobbles though. there was a big lorry half blocking the junction so you wouldnt have been able to see any traffic turning across you until too late. I did a slow hand clap accompanied by "well done, dickhead" which resulted in him turning around 3 times trying to work out if he was the subject. yes, yes you are.

i do wonder at the mentality of it. firstly you're travelling really slow and obviously not in THAT much of a hurry, so why bother jumping the junction? but more than that - if there's a growing amount of other cyclists who are already waiting at the lights, why do they not apply to you?

  • This morning: Man in his late 20s/early 30s, tattoo on left calf, shorts, singlespeed 29er with red chain (cough)

Goes well through red light when it's green for me forcing me to break. I toot car horn. Not even a glance. End up in front of me. OK...
Zig-zags between parked cars and road. I slow down and let him out.
Goes on to jump another red light while I wait in car and then cycles against traffic on Dublin road.

Either a total thundercunt or so oblivious he's going to get wiped out by mr taxi driver at some point. Did shout IDIOT from open car window. roadrage4lyf

(car yes sorry school run 8 miles offspring can't cycle that yet)

  • +1 for golf clap, bravo

  • To the faux roadie douchebag by Clapham Common:

    Two questions;

    1. Is this a club run?
    2. Is this a fucking club run?

No? Then why did you accelerate and undertake me and cut off my escape route when I have a car passing me with a foot to spare at the same time? If that driver had moved any closer we all would have been fucked.

Next time I'm shoulder checking you into the kerb and you can just bounce to a fucking stop and play pick up sticks with your shattered carbon. Fuck you. This is not a club run so don't pull that shit on someone you've never ridden with.

  • That was very satisfying to read.

  • "Go-Pro: Be a hero"

Lol what a couple of heros

  • Be an hero more like

  • Calling out:

    a) the guy on a BSO today in Cambridge, who rode off the pavement onto to ASL and stopped in front of me. Fine, I'm over that. Then accelerates away, spots his friend having a fag outside the local Chinese, anchors on (sweet skid BTW) causing me to hit him and stack it onto the pavement, getting roadrash and a fat bruise on my thigh in the process.

    b) me, for crashing into the back of some cunt. 3 bike lengths is clearly not enough reaction time.

  • Oh and calling the same guy out for jumping a red light right after causing the above accident. Lesson learned - I think not. Prick.

  • Calling myself out today. Not sure where my head was at but made some terrible judgement calls.
