  • Any suggestions for deep carbon wheels, that won't break the bank?
    For a Trek Emonda
    Preferably with few decals

  • fuck sake ed, you take all the joy out of spending money senselessly!

  • Mine just pop off by hand...

  • Euph?

  • Cheap eBay ones work fine. Then you can do fun things like measure tyre width on different rims.

  • These have lasted a few years for me.. seem pretty accurate.

  • you take all the joy out of spending money senselessly!

Put the joy back with Mitutoyo

Ed's right though, a visual check is good enough for pads. For rotor thickness checks, a micrometer is probably better, the #tester_approved one is 102-707

  • Any decent BBQ places between kings cross and Liverpool Street that are open in the afternoon.. Or this afternoon in fact. I've a hankering for brisket. Salt beef will do at a push. I'll assume those two bagel places are still on brick lane?

  • Does anyone know anywhere that does custom printed musettes with fast turnaround times? Just basic cheap ones with a simple one colour print. No need for lining or anything complicated - half of them will probably end up being given away so cheapness is priority.

  • Pitt Cue is open until 3 if you're quick.

  • Cheers @aggi.

On the train from Embra and hoping it'll get in before 3pm now. Fingers crossed.

  • A little late, but,
if it it is a combined washer/condensing dryer,
    I agree with Tester,
as who knows what the trickle of water has collected from the deposits on the inside surface of the waste pipe.
If it is a standalone condensing tumble dryer, it should be free of minerals.
I have used condensed tumble dryer water for both car coolant system topping up,
(caution; I only own essentially fully depreciated nth hand cars),
    and
in an 'espresso' coffee machine, (caution; I do not claim to have a discerning palette).

Cars continue to run, coffee machine not yet sucumbed to the hard water of Three Valleys/Affinity.

  • Which shop has the best range of helmets in stock?

Also, which models tend to be lower profile than others?

I have a large head so bulky helmets look even more ridiculous on me. I have a Giro Savant that is very mushroomy

  • Whereabouts? Evans on Mortimer street has a pretty good selection. There's a Cycle Surgery around the corner too for other options.

  • About 100yrds from Mortimer St.......

    Will take a gander.

Anyone doing those trade-in/amnesty type deals?

  • I like Condor's range of helmets.

  • Specialized store in Covent Garden is doing a discount if you trade in an old lid.

  • Fuckin' on fire with the helmet advice today fizzy old chum...

  • Also @mdcc_tester, @mespilus and @hamrack I was going to boil some of the water off but having drained it off into a glass I could see quite a lot of dust in it so it is unusable for my desired purposes. It was worth a try I suppose.

  • Would you like some DI water then?

  • Cycle Surgery also participates in the deal so I am combining both pieces of advice and popping over to Gt Portland St tomorrow

  • So I just got home from work, my landlord's had a plumber in today sorting out some issues with the bathroom.

I sit down on my Ekornes reclining chair to find it's fucked. A bolt and housing between arm and back has been sheared clean off and a leather strap holding the seat to the arm is snapped too.

I've let the landlord know, and the plumber is (hopefully) due back soon as the toilet's in the hallway. He seemed like a sound guy so hopefully he'll confess to breaking it and... Offer to pay for the repair?

What can I do to not get dicked over and left with a fucked chair?

  • Thanks for the offer but I'm okay for suitable supplies. I was thinking there must be a use for this by-product of drying clothing. Cheers.

  • Might be a bit tricky if he denies all knowledge. Kind of hard to see how fixing the toilet involves applying brute force to a reclining chair which presumably was not in the bathroom?
Maybe contact your contents insurer and see if you can get insurance details from plumber?
