  • Finally started putting this together, it's my first build, with a rat frame kindly donated by @keanulooser and a rear wheel from @gstratton.

Was initially going to have bullhorns but I struggled to get brake levers for it. I'm on a super low budget so most parts have been kindly donated or picked up from the local bike project and friends.

From here the plan is to match the frame to the saddle and gradually upgrade to more solid parts. Right now I just need some rim tape and to put together a chain and it's good to go :-)

  • your bars are the wrong way around. :) also, save the money and better parts for another frame, building a nice bike on a tight budget is very possible, being informed (knowing the market and tech stuff) is the key!

  • That's really helpful! I've never fitted risers before. So slight curve back, not forwards?

I'll bear that in mind. I just want something I can ride reliably. Should be able to keep this running :-D

  • saddle lol

  • It's furry too :-). Picked it up at a car boot years ago because it amused me.

  • Good luck - nothing like a 1st build. I hope the bike inspires you to build many more :)

  • It lives! Got a chain on it last night. Rode her to work today, was wet but fun. Been a long time since I've ridden fixed, it's gonna be a learning curve but in excited!

  • I think that saddle is great actually ... g'wan the rat bikes :):)

  • Loving the saddle ;)
I would change the cable routing though. Have a look at

You can skip the stuff relating to gears. Towards the you'll find some example pictures
