  • Ha @Hefty get ur chequebook out!

  • Chequebook out. Quill poised by inkwell.

Got a pic of the driver's seat?

  • Hey guys! Thanks for the post Paul.

I could get you a snap of the drivers seat tomorrow if you like Hefty.

  • Also, £200 off for forum people.

  • It's a flight of fancy really, but the other cars I have in the garage were bought on a whim, one whilst I was drunk, so if you're going past with a camera, please do...

Where are you / is the car? How far has it been? History? Owners?

  • That's very nice indeed.

  • Gave the laferrari a forum paint jahb...

  • Hi car people; I'm idly considering things which might replace my sensible / dull 2009 Passat.

Criteria are big, reliable, comfortable. In my semi old age I find it more tiring to drive all day (although only have to do this a couple of times a year, usually trips to Scotland or France) so looking to be cosseted a bit.

Neither of us commute by car so annual mileage is low; about 8k which is 50/50 round town and motorways.

Currently thinking of perhaps BM 535i or Merc E350. Would there be a significant difference in running costs? I'd look for a car under 5 years old and aim to keep it for at least 5 years.

  • Nice FJ Land Cruiser parked down the road from me this morning, rust bubbling up under the paint on the bonnet but still lovely... Shame about the roo bars but they're pretty necessary if you do any driving out in the bush... A kangaroo will most likely destroy your vehicle if you have the misfortune of hitting one...

  • Get one, Jose!

  • Which has the most comfortable seat?

Look at the french and Ford offerings. Ford learnt alot from volvo. Checked out the crysler 300c? Quite cheap and quite a fun drive.

  • PM'd Hefty

  • I've seen early 80s FJ45s going for under $10k, which is crazy cheap... Would much prefer a Wagon tho'... I'll try and take a pic of the other one I see driving around all the time, it's beautiful...

  • I've had two mondeos and a 406. All nice enough to drive. "Reliable" and "French" don't really go together though.

Also, want it to be a bit more gutsey than the 140bhp deisel in the Passat.

  • All cars have niggles.

But how about the 300c? It is a big car, friend has 6-8 year old 300c that he got last year the big petrol engine and every gadget imaginable quick comfy and sub 80k for around 3k. Did they do a monaro/vxr estate?

  • Get an FJ40, way cooler...

  • Or to blow peoples minds

  • This is pretty impressive - it's a Volvo 940 with a Volvo four cylinder/twin cam engine, a significant turbo and nitrous:

  • I will have a look at a 300c. Hadn't considered that, I have a prejudice that it will be sh*t built quality but sounds like it could be worth checking out and cheap to buy.
