That stache looks amazing!

Yey! Followed. They look like so much fun.. Hate the colour tho!

Ha! It's a massively fun bike...it make me a better rider than I am! The one drawback, is the chupacabra tyres in the gloop....they are treacherous, and the cause of my knee pain since November! As soon as it dries up a bit though, they will be back to being magnificent!
In the current set up, it's right around 26.5lbs....I could get it lighter pretty easily.
For £750 beans though, the marin is hard to beat!

I think by next winter, the range of plus tyres available will be much bigger, and there should be some better mud options. Maxxis are doing a big range I think and i love their tyres generally. Also Specialized will have two available.
My issue, (i've got a Jamis Dragonslayer 27.5plus with 3.0 vittoria tyres) is whether to drop down to 2.8 to hope you sink into the mud a little more, or stay big and get something with more pronounced blocks to kind of paddle steamer through the gloop.Charge bikes are shipping with 2.8's as they say they are better all round, and being a UK company, perhaps that means 2.8 and mud will get along better.
Also, by next year, I may have saved enough to be able to afford two new tyres....

Ha! True with the price! My mate is running a dirt wizard on the front of his krampus, which is decent....I've got another mate riding a charge 27.5+ and he has the 2.8's....as with all things 'plus', they are very pressure sensitive. I normally go with ' if in doubt, let some out' I'm hoping bontrager (who are trek) bring out something akin to the mud x, which is a brilliant tyre for the UK....

I hope so. I want some fat 3.0 slicks like crazy bob's or something and some 27.5+ studded ice tyres
-
• #484
Not sure about slicks. Don't know how much demand there would be given that you can get pretty chunky balloon tyres up to about 2.35. I've never wanted more tyre than the 2.15 Big Apples on my monster commuter.

Schwalbe website has Super Moto X at 27.5/2.8".

ha, well there you go!

• #488
I'm even more tempted to build up some 27.5+ wheels for my Ogre now!
-
• #489
Do it! I'm tempted to build some too....I've got that Ti frame that would possibly take them.....

Ha! Colours exactly the same as the forum cap!!

Sounds like a bit of a stretch for an old 26" frame.
The Spearfish, on the other hand...

Ha! Nah....that's my fast bike!
I've still got the Transition though..... -

Anyone seen/tried/own the Bowman Foots Cray? Looks pretty nice, massive clearance and almost mtb like geo (not sure if this is good or bad).

this is as near to adventures as I get now- overnight trips with a toddler.
just changed gatorskins to marathon plus 1.5 for a plusher ride (especially for the guy on the back who can't see the bumps coming) and now thinking we need more gear range and maybe disc brakes for all our weight when we head to the peak district.
gearing is 1x9 so I guess I can squeeze a bigger cassette on a mtb mech?
discs ideally will be cable operated so I can service myself- any recommendations?

Wasn't sure where to ask this as we dont seem to have a standard MTB thread. Does anyone have any insight to Voodoo MTB frames? Theres one very cheap on eBay here and they get a good review here. Ive got a bunch of spare parts that I could chuck on it, giving me a drop bar setup with a 1x8 bar end shifter or single speed as it has sliding droupouts. If theyre shit, are there any other cheap frames with sliding dropouts?
Heres an example:

My brother got a voodoo steel 29er. It's pretty nice. I think they're really good value. Don't know anything about the alu versions though...

@dicki has one of the steel(?) ones from ebay and seems to rate it. They were being sold by quite cheaply by Halfords a few years ago, so that's possibly where all these ebay ones originated from.
Difficult to go wrong for £50, but going by that picture, it's worth checking with the seller that they include the dropouts & bolts too.

Though about buying one of the steel ones with sliding drops. The Wanga maybe? From research I did, opinion seemed to be that the geometry was a bit dated but otherwise they're nice frames b
U got a stache!? They look great!
