  • Cetma tho

  • in no rush to build, just wondering about parts. ideally want a rack that can take a 12" pizza box one day and then some beers the next (or both) - ideally without the use of bungees.

  • that paint is fire.
yeh i feel you. them baskets arent the strongest things in the world.. id be nervous with a 12pack in there.

  • Bit of shameless self promotion.

  • Just picked up something nice. I'll have full pics later.

True rat from real use...nothing faked.

  • Fully chromed underneath? Noice.

  • Deffo a sandpaper jobby there.

  • What real use would cause that wear?

  • What better than an urban setting to take ma babehh out 1st time this summahhh

  • can you upload an audio version of that?

  • LOL at sandpaper.

It was owned by a messenger in SF. The previous owner was one of the MASH guys.
He hand painted over all of the exposed chrome using some silly primer gray color...it looked really bad since it was a flat color and didn't match the original paint.. All it took was a scrub brush and soap to remove all of the crappy touch-up paint. It's all from real use. You can still see a lot of the crappy gray touch up paint in the pic.

It's only bad in the usual U-Lock spots....head tube area, seat cluster area, and sides of the seat stays from leaning against stuff.

  • I'm gonna start work on an edit to kraftwerk tour de france....

  • You're proud to have a bought a frame in poor condition that the previous owner didn't care about and probably charged you more for the privilege?

  • It's mash though....#fixiefamous

  • Imagine that, you buy a frame cheap, ride the shit out of it and generally treat it like shit, sell it in awful condition for a profit because you made a skidding video this one time...

  • erm, can you stop shitting on my business model please. I have a lot invested in this

  • Don't bait it

  • The frame is an awesome condition. Only one small tiny ding that can only be seen if you look at the right angle.

The previous owner did care about it...he just road it often/locked it up in the city.
I paid about 250 quid shipped to my door....and that's with an almost new Chris King headset.

Had the old BB pulled out and a frame builder took a look at it...he said the frame was straight as an arrow and needed zero tweaking.

I brought up the Mash deal because it was a cool bit of history.
EDIT: I didn't buy it from a Mash guy, the guy I bought it from had it since 2005. HE bought it from one of the Mash guys back in 2005.

God you guys can complain about anything.

  • its a nice little bike.
    swap them tyres over.

you should never buy a frame that needs tweaking by a frame builder

  • Crazy world aint it!

  • Thanks
Anytime I buy a used frame I'll always have it looked by a builder...they can spot things that I can't. Guess it's a piece of mind thing....kind of like buying a used car and having an auto body shop look it over for previous crash damage.

Yeah, I'm running what I can. I have one good 28mm Conti GP and one worn 23mm Gatorskin. The 28mm GP will fit in the rear but no chance in the front...I'm going to try and run a 25mm GP in the front but it will be tight. The 23mm Gatorskin only has around 4mm of gap between the crown.
