Yes. Bikes are also sometimes taken in burglaries in flats/houses themselves, but it's comparatively rare. I'd say (without having data on it, just from experience) that in London, the most frequent occurrence is probably theft from communal bike storage, especially in newer developments. Another frequent London occurrence is theft from hallways, e.g. the 'housemate/utility person/handyman left the front door open' scenario. Theft from the street obviously still occurs and is not to be taken too lightly.
Just to clarify, do you mean from sheds / garages / outbuildings / communal spaces at peoples homes?
