Alex Dowsetts 17 doesn't count!
Course it does. Obvs there are much variables, but the very fact he did it and Wiggo couldn't get near at Hull says to me you're just as likely to go quick on the E2. And it's fairly near, whereas Hull isn't.

Weather did Wiggins in, plus how much of that event was just promotion for his Hour?
Dowsett was 2min in front of next rider, so his ProTour physiology makes e2 seem fast but if you're normal? Maybe not so much.
I guess there's not many people who've raced both, lots to get fairer comparison.

I have just entered my first ever TT.

• #12605
which one?

• #12606
E2 is a fast course ffs.

24hr?

Yup, Mersey Roads 24h.

I really must get over to the Isle of Man one of these days...

Okay princess, keep your knickers on.
I know it's fast, that's why I've entered. The question is, is it as fast as the V718? Remove the World Tour riders and then give me some analysis on riders who've ridden both courses with weather data. I'm sure this little project won't take more than a couple of months. Meantime... whatevs, Cambridge lovers! Hull4lyf!

Are you treating it as a race or an audax though?

Somewhere between the two, but more Audax than race. ~350 miles or so, maybe.
Current thoughts are to keep off-bike time down to below 90 minutes (ideally an hour), no sleep (or maybe a 10 minute catnap), two or three feeds in the cafe and gels the rest of the time.
I'll probably be on fixed, quite minimalist (no spare bike/wheels/etc) and unsupported although there'll be plenty of people I vaguely know around so I can leave stuff with them but I won't be looking for food/bottle handups.

I'll probably be on fixed

The question is, is hippy as fast as hippy? :)
-
• #12615
'To hip be or not to hip be, that is the question.'
-
• #12616
is hippy as fat as hippy?
We'll never know, he broke the test equipment

Anyone aware of any fixed / SS time trials happening around the London area anytime soon?
Cheers!
-
• #12619
you can do any time trial on fixed or single speed!

You don't need to sleep. Focus. If that doesn't work... caffeine.
Cafe feeds? umadbro? You'll lose way too much time stopping for food that's too fatty to be digested properly anyway. I don't know what gels you use but train on them whatever you choose. I prefer Torq and use their bars and gels and drink, for that matter, during 24s.
You'll probably stop less if you're unsupported because there's no one there to listen to you whinge.
Why fixed? Don't you have a proper bike (ooh sickburn fixie skidders!) for triathlon? Whatever you choose, it might be worth having some spares - be a shame to lose a good result because of a mechanical you can't fix.

I broke it with my awesomeness. Way too much awesome for one test. Did I mention awesome?
Awesome.

Fixed and SS is legal in CTT events so the question is - how close to London?
There's some Richmond Park TTs, there's club events at Hillingdon cycle circuit out west and probably some other club 10s that are rideable from different sides of London. People?

First attempt at a ttt today. Went well until I dropped my chain 2miles in. New CP 20 trying to chase back on, but hardly the debut I'd have liked.

I believe it's scheduled to run this year. I might even get to ride it this time.
I have to push a lot more meat through the air but 19:52 is what I need for club rec I think.
