  • Wow it'd be interesting to investigate those bad grammar emails from 'paypal' in a bit more detail. Are you sure the were from actual PayPal?

  • Here's what it says, with the claim number and details at the top. I believe the email is a proper PayPal one? I got 2 which said exactly the same thing. Mentions Singapore at the bottom so might be from PayPal in Singapore? It mentions nothing about it on the claims page online and the guy on the phone assured me that I'd definitely get my refund if I sent it off

  • That's not exactly the best grammar either.

  • 'Protection services', wtf is that? Can you look at the actual sender details? Not just the email content but the header? Do you have a computer lol? I know, people don't use computers to view emails these days, I don't :)

The email does look very wierd

  • Just checked and it's from the same email as legit emails I've gotten from PayPal about my claim. All the others are nicely formatted with the PayPal logo etc. and they end with, 'yours sincerely, Paypal.'

Whatever it is, I'm ignoring it

  • Normally you can tell by whether they use your name, or just Dear Paypal customer.

  • it is difficult to judge whether you should ignore it or not. this may be the reaction to the other party's action from 'their' paypal, which sounds logical (S. Korea, so paypal hub in Singapore). if you ignore it, it may be challenging to say later on, "well, I did what you told me over the phone rather than what you told me to do in an email". do you have a name of the person you're contacting in paypal, or like their supervisor or smthn?

others may correct me, but i'd say reply to the Singapore email with detail of whatever happenned so far (briefly) and the content of the telephone conversations, plus the fact that you already shipped it back.

what do others thinks, makes sense?

  • 6417 unread emails! How are you still sane?

  • Pay clearly doesn't know what Pal is doing. :)

  • Hmm can't remember the guys name, when I mentioned the emails though, he went to check my account, which at then point he then apologised for the contradictory information I had received, but didn't really elaborate. He also mentioned that they'd had messages of from the seller, which is why I may of gotten those emails.

It still says to ship on the claims page and doesn't ask for any documents, along with being told by someone at paypal to ship it, I don't see anyway I can be in the wrong. May be best to reply to the email just in case though?

  • Easy! just ignore it haha I think there is actually a button where you can mark them all as read but who has time for that

  • Seriously if you're not sure don't reply. This is how people get into trouble with phishing emails etc all the time.

If it looks like a fish, and it smells like a fish, it's probably a fish.

  • Putting myself in here - Just tried to sell something that i'd allready sold a month ago by mistake. I could have sworn those pedals were still in my box of bits! Snappy paypal refund I hope the buyer is not too pissed off.

    must be getting old!

  • ild reply to the wierd email with a reaction that it is handled by paypal uk and that they can get all their info through them. no specifics, but it can't come back to bite you.

shocking though that when its indeed an official email from pp singapore.
maybe also contact pp uk bout the email? or fwd it to their antiphishing dept to check if legit?

  • @haveo

    This is a sensible option.

  • @haveo any update on the PayPal claim?

  • cheap shipping is slow.. its been waiting to be inspected by customs in Korea for a week now

  • I'm sure the guy bribed the customs inspectors...
    lolwut

  • Back again...

Parcel seems to be stuck in Korean customs. I've phoned up the shipping company and they said they'd investigate. Got an email this morning saying that I need to get the reciever to call customs to help get it to clear.

Obviously this is going to be an issue as the seller doesn't want it back anyway... What should I do? Ask PayPal what to do?

  • If the seller is unwilling to assist in getting it cleared from customs I would asssune that PayPal would treat it the same as the recipient not accepting return of the item, which they would ten rule in your favour.

Let hope they refund your money and the parcel gets returned to sender (you)...

  • Just spoke to them and they told me that i just need to upload the proof of postage to them and then they'll sort my refund. Result! It might all be over!

  • Looking forward to an end of a saga here...

  • Hopefully the seller gets hit with a big fat import duty fee to pay for being such a prick

  • Hopefully someone slaps him/her with a big inflatable dick as well as being made to pay a huge tax bill

  • Hopefully it somehow finds its way back to england and @haveo gets a nice wallhanger.

The inflatable dick thing would also be neat.
