I'll give it ago, and maybe just buy black socks from now on...

FWIW, my Mavic white socks are much better at staying white than any of the others.
The problem with any chemistry which is good at making your laundry white is that it also tends to kill your garments quicker, so there's a trade off.

My mavic sock are actually doing better than the rest. But I have a pile of nonMavic white socks thats needs wearing before I buy new, so I am prepared to take the trade off.
Would ultrasonic theoretically work?

Would ultrasonic theoretically work?
Ultrasonic is a good way to scrub rigid parts without using aggressive chemistry. I haven't really looked at how well it works on textiles.
This identifies the problems which sprung to my mind, it looks like there are solutions but whether the domestic products actually have them is not answered.

Fitted a 25mm Conti Ultrasport II to the front of the bike. Realised the tyre arrow is pointing the wrong direction. Could flip the wheel and QR.
Got bored reading this: velonews link
It doesn't matter, does it?

If tyre markings looks like the right one it could be faster in reverse... :)However an interesting discovery was made with the GP tyres. These tyres have a directional tread pattern with some directional channeling. Therefore it was decided to test this tyre in both rotational directions (Dir-1 & Dir-2 in the graphs) to see any influence on the results, in particular in the separation point. Interestingly the reverse direction (Dir-1) offered the best aerodynamic performance.

Very interesting. Not sure I understand all of it. Won't bother flipping the wheel :)

Looking at Sram mountain bike cranks, buuut it looks like Rival and Force 22 are also direct mount compatible, so that'd probably be a better option.

Dilute some bleach (couple of capfuls) in the sink, soak socks in this for 20mins then wash in machine. I've also done this by pouring bleach into the detergent tray of the washing machine, but I did ruin some of mrs C's clothes using the direct injection to washing machine method so not 100% recommended.

Thank you. Tried bleach as powder. Didn't do much. Will try vanish now.. If that doesn't work then maybe stronger bleach or give up.

Syncing Facebook events with Google Calendar
I have Facebook events as one of my "Other calendars" on Google Calendar. Basically, some events get added automatically to Google as soon as I click "Going," while others don't, and I can't work out why.
I tried creating some test events and changing variables like whether they were private or public, but can't find a pattern. Incidentally nothing I've created as a test has added automatically. Refreshed everything, signed out and in again etc.
Any suggestions?

I now check out the weather forecast and see if it's going to rain and wear black. Otherwise the road dirt messess them up so that nothing, other than a boil wash(which will fuck up your socks), works.

Can anyone point me towards some wideish rim tape (36mm inner width) for a 26" rim with big cutouts? I'm looking for something coloured, made out of some woven PVC I think?

Summer cycling gloves: if I'm between sizes, as in both an L and an XL fit, do I go snugger or looser?
-
• #76123
Neither. Try a different brand. I have a mix of gloves from different makes. Some in XL and XXL which are both fine, some XXLs that are too tight. Your mileage will also vary.
Go and try some on in a store, or buy 3-4 pairs online and send the ones you don't like back.

snugger, they're stretch
