  • I'm getting a bit nervous. Sam is having an operation tomorrow to remove 'a sliver of both his bottom eyelids' as the hairs on the eyelids have inverted inwards and are rubbing against his eyes. He has an ulcer in one eye that hasn't cleared up and his other eye looks very sore. I always hate it when he has to go anaesthetic, as I know the risks particularly as he gets older.
Anyway, has anyone else had a cat with the same problem and did the surgery help?

Yes and yes. Tiny here has had both eyes done, albeit a couple of years between ops. He used to get regular eyelid swelling from ulcers, but his eyes seem much better now ( he's squinting because of bright sunlight ).

Hope Sam heals up soon. I'm sure he'll love you putting ointment in his eyes, while they're healing...

  • Ha! He is already sulking about me having to put two different types of eye ointment on twice a day. He has also got through about six packs of cat treats as bribery/entrapment.

Thanks. It's reassuring to know this might help. I hope he will be able to stop squinting and be his lovely wide eyed cat self again.
