  • I found "the bank" to be fine. Way less sketchy than the H25/2 ski slope, right up until the point the valve cover let go and then I didn't know what was happening and backed right off. :S

It might've just been the fact there was little traffic compared to the lorries that wobbled me around last time I rode H25/2 ? It felt less fast and the wind less gusty.

I'd like to have another go in the dry and now that I kind of know the course.

  • Hey, you're a contender for winning the TCR, what are you doing racing 10s anyway? You better be adding another 12 hours riding after the race or something.

  • I might do a 20 min warm down, does that count?

  • I ll be marshalling

Probably standing at the 4 Went Ways stopping you make the turn for Cambridge

  • Yeah that's the one.
    Should be a good un.

  • It's funny as I don't mind the H25/2 so much - I got gusted at the bridge down the bank on the R25/3L first time I rode it ages ago which probably did me in. Good ride today!

  • I'll be on a flouro yellow Fauxnago with an eBay sourced 52t front ring - say hello!

  • Only a 52! ;)

    Sweet, will do!

  • Boo, oh well there are always other days - annoying to have picked a bad one though! At least you've had a good day this year, I'm still waiting for one and I've got some silly race in Mallorca next weekend that's getting in the way of doing more races at the moment.

  • Whats the view on the Challenge Crono tub (I can get one for <£30)? Looking for something for the back of the Trek now I've a disc on its way but can't really stretch to Xav's recommendation of a Veloflex.

  • Would be the National Championship winning tub to match your frame.

  • 'Specificity'

    I'll just leave this here.

  • I did a test ride of h25/2 last year ( stupid road works turned it into a 10) and it was fine... right up until the turn when I unshipped a chain... Yeah just like h10/22. Guess it depends mostly on winds and traffic.

  • I probably psyched myself into a shitter time. I knew the weather was shit and the missus is away so I had no fucker to moan to like normal. An hour before I was sat in the car thinking I should go to Penderyn distillery instead. Raced it so next time I know the course better.

  • Whinges about feeling shit and riding shit. Results show 51.17 for 11th place.

  • Many ways to skin a cat.

  • I had one goal for that race - 30mph

    If I'd have known I'd ride 51 I wouldn't have bothered. I could've been training for TCR.

I knew it was likely to be shit weather but drove over anyway. Plus side, I know more about the course now so can hit it again one day.

  • Start sheet is up on CTT.

Good luck cat skinning, just think about what I said though - forum winner would be cool and it's not gonna be me with that parcours.

I need to learn the e2/10 course (presume it's simple) and then try to recover for the 50mi the day after.

  • E2/10 is plenty fast enough for you to do a 19, don't know why you think it isn't.

You just get more races and faster riders on the V718 so it looks way faster, even though in reality it's only a little bit faster.

  • I'm first solo off at 14.02 (middle marker event).

  • E2/10 is straightforward up and down a dual carriageway stuff. The only chance of going wrong is rab exits. The south end fourwentways rab can get quite busy with traffic crossing the A1307, so a little bit of luck is needed.

Strava reckons it's exactly as fast as the V718:

  • It's a matter of time. I'm currently in my end of year exams and also sitting exams outside of my course. So I don't have the time to ride all day every day. Once they clear up, I can start banging out some long rides.
Riding a 10 isn't training, but it is good fun and keeping mentally fresh is important. The day after the 10, I've a 100 mile road race, which will be 400TSS. Then the day after I'll do a 6+h ride.

Theres also that over 6-7 hours a bike ride doesn't have much more physiological benefit, just psychological. And my brain is hard as nails already.

It worked last year for me. And I've brought a lot of new things in to deal with the issues I had.

  • I did 19:43 of 330w on the e2. That day dowsett did the 17:20.

  • I dunno actually. Who's ridden e2 and h10 courses to compare? Just assumed I'd need to head to Hull.

Depends how many beers I drink Friday night. We're bowling and bowling is only fun drunk.

  • Yeah, I got slowed on my 50:02 ride on a RAB. Shit happens.

    Alex Dowsetts 17 doesn't count!
