  • Thanks.
I love seeing old guys with style.

  • What's the deal with news websites using your photos without permission? Not that I mind but it would have been nice to be asked.

  • Nice. Always a hard place to shoot cos super dark + often backlit.

  • Both skate picks are bang on @i_am_lono and @IzMota

  • You should mind; it's your work therefore you own the copyright whether implied or not. News sites are notorious for shitting on IP since they think that most folk will be happy to see their image published, but this sidesteps your legal rights as author. From what I've seen of your work you're a great photographer so deserve a) acknowledgement of your work, copyright, IP etc and b) appropriate recompense from the site for usage of your image. Many, many papers have been routinely shedding their newsdesk photographers since the rise of digital and social media, figuring that staffers on regular wages can be easily usurped by anyone with a camera who happens to be on the scene; this is just how rolling news works. As for metadata (not sure if you routinely attach this to your files but it's a good habit to get into and does afford you a modicum of proof that the image is yours and yours alone) it's depressing that this can be stripped relatively easily. Unless you granted explicit permission through a CC license they need to either pay and credit you or remove the image from whatever platform it's on. Sorry for the long post but ownership of any photographer's work must be respected, credited and paid for appropriately. Out of interest, who was it? Not the Daily Hell, I hope, or you'll be waiting years for a well-thumbed £35 cheque to slither through your letterbox..

  • Thanks @mi7rennie. Been skating since '87 (now 39) but never shot a huge amount of skating itself. I always find shooting park stuff a challenge; have often found shooting wide, low and close with lots of sky (and 2+ remote Speedlights) can help, but generally would rather skate than lug a massive bag around.

  • i especially love the first one, and the last

  • It was the Manchester Evening News, even has my watermark on it (@DenGlanzig) . I don't know if it's because I've allowed them to share my Instagram photos before (if you tag them in posts they will re-post the ones they like) so maybe they think I'm cool with them doing it.

Though it's more likely someone is just being cheeky as this was taken from Facebook.

Edit: looking at it again I've just realised that they've credited Dominika who was the person who organised the event, so maybe she linked them to a bunch of photos, because I'm fairly certain the rest of the images on that page aren't hers either.

And it's actually 2 images but they've cropped the watermark off one of them.

  • holy shit guys, I bought a GR for a steal of my local camera shop, who I'm fairly friendly with. It is beyond mint.

I sold my GF1 a couple of months ago and have been hankering for something punchy + pocketable since borrowing a X100T for a holiday. I just charged the battery and used it mostly on 'just shoot no bullshit' mode this morning and it's far exceeded even my high expectations. Plan is to get an EyeFi card (which it's kind-of designed to work with), maybe a viewfinder, and take it everywhere.

Anyone got any links for cool straps / accessories / non-awful pouches and cases etc?

  • Here be some examples - nothing amazing, literally just some snaps from my post-chaingang dog walk

  • That speed strap is an interesting idea, but iunno if it's right for a smaller camera.

I really want this for my cross bike / adventures.

I like this for a small wrist strap, or I might fabricate something like this in the mean time. Still haven't seen a shoulder / crossbody strap that I'm totally sold on tbh.

  • That bar bag is great. I put my GR in one of these

Which goes in a jersey pocket. Have to stop to take it out to take a picture, though.

  • Yeah, I've been thinking about getting one of these:

Not sure if it'll fit my x-pro 1 though

  • Good news in the garden.

  • Awesome! Super cute wee things.

  • Adorable. Love foxes.

  • last home game of the season
