that is a great link. lots of sizes. was hoping to take my bike somewhere and test a few before I buy but its looking unlikely.
were these a true p shape, not ones you have to bend to kinda make a p?
-
• #76053
Well, they are kinda bendy to whatever shape. They are quite big for the advertised size; I've ordered some smaller ones. This is "16mm":

I should have some 13mm and 10mm arriving in the next couple of days, so if you are not in a hurry I can let you know how they work out.

What's the recommended website for mapping gps cycle routes? Preferably something based on Google Maps so I can use streetview and can output gpx/tcx/whatever for Garmin. Also something where I can upload a gpx file and edit it (reverse it, change the route a little, etc). Cheers

RidewithGPS is good and used by many people on here. The free level works fine but you have to learn the tricks for editing. The undo button is useful!
Outputs to gpx/tcx and uses gmaps/street view/osm/satellite etc. -

Didn't we have a thread where someone revamped & totally polished up a Corima 4 spoke ?
Tried to find it with no luck. Can anyone point me in the right direction? -

where can I get a cheap headset for a langster, integrated 1 1/8
What's the difference with semi and integrated? Both work? -

What's the difference with semi and integrated? Both work?
Semi-integrated is sometimes a synonym for zero stack, but it can also mean a frame with proprietary inserts between the headtube and the bearing cartridges. They quite often use the same cartridges as integrated ones, but there are numerous variations.
If you use google, you will find about a million articles on Langster headsets. There are also several variants of Langster in different materials, I doubt that they all use exactly the same headset.
Once you have established exactly what you have at the moment, it will become much easier to discover what you need to replace it.

I need a 130mm adjustable stem, with a 26mm bar clamp. I've found stems that are close... This is the right length, but it has 25.4mm clamp while This is 25.8mm...
Does anyone know of any 130mm/26mm adjustable stems, or if not, how much flexibility is there in the clamp diameter? Could a smaller bar clamp diameter be used safely with 26mm bars?
Edit:
Steerer tube is standard 1 1/8.
I suppose another option would be to use my existing 31.8mm adjustable stem with a 26-31.8 shim? -

This is now worrying me.
As far as I can see, it's about a 2011 frame. Dark green with white panels for the decals. Can I just replace the bearings?
It's really notchy when turning and any preload locks it up worse. Can't afford a lbs to look at it really -

These are 125mm/31.8mm:

This is 25.8mm
25.8 and 26.0 are effectively the same, the tolerance band on handlebars is pretty broad. Ritchey like to say 25.8, but AFAIK nobody has ever had any trouble mixing and matching their 25.8 with everybody else's 26.0.

Can I just replace the bearings?
It's really notchy when turningIt's the races which are pitted, and those are the bits which are pressed into the frame and need removing so that you can fit new ones, either OE or cartridges from an integrated headset.
The stupid thing about this is that Specialized probably saved all of $2 per Langster by using their stupid headset instead of a commonly available generic EC34 or IS one. Every owner who has ever had to deal with their crap would much rather have paid £500 for the bike rather than £495 in order to be in a better position 5 years down the road.

Considering just getting back what I paid on here and sourcing a pre cursa...

Thanks @Scilly.Suffolk and @mdcc_tester I'm pretty convinced I'm going to go down the shim route. Shimming the bars up from 26-31.8mm would enable me to experiment with the adjustable stem on more than one bike which would be an advantage.
Fixed tt bike is now rideable, I just need some bigger gears and to get the front end lower and longer.

This might be rational, but the psychological evidence of how people discount the future means that most would still have chosen to pay £495 and deal with the shitty headset at a later date. :-)

Anyone know about furniture restoration?
I have a sideboard that has been outside for years (probably 20 or so), next to house under overhang, so rain mostly kept off but exposed to changes in temperature and more than ideal amounts of sunlight/UV. The veneer isn't delaminating anywhere, but on the front feels 'toothy' (rough surface catches fingers/cloth). It's hard to see if it's the veneer or the varnish. On the top you can see a bit more that the grain of the wood has opened up a bit. There's one patch on top that the varnish has just gone. I want to make it smooth and protect the veneer, I'm not really after a proper restoration look.
Do I sand/wire wool the tooth down? Strip the varnish? Rehydrate the veneer/varnish somehow to close up the grain?
Does anyone have techniques and/or products to recommend?
Looking online I mostly found how-to's for repairing split/peeling veneer, rather than just the surface.

Sorry should have been specific - I'm looking for single ring, not double. Any options other than grinding them down?

I'm not an expert... What I'd do is go over it with fine wire wool and then apply a neutral wax such as Briwax or Wood Silk. I've had good results with the latter on a veneered table which got water damaged.
nope, would avoid locking round there. always see kids checking out bikes, pulling at locks etc too many chancers, even round in front of the hospital. maybe right in front of sainsburys if you dont mind a short walk, its open till 11ish?
