1989 Olmo Sanremo Competition

I definitely need to have some counseling from my gf regarding how to stop this!!
Anyhow here it is a frame a recently acquired and which I like a lot, not sure yet how it'll be built up, probably Veloce 9sp to start with as I have many parts already.

It has a longish forum history as well as it popped up on here I think 3 years ago and has seen a couple of owners before reaching me.

A sort of metallic violet colour - very nice. I recommend white bar tape and saddle. Actually, yellow is the complimentary colour in this instance...

I put my eyes on a Chorus groupset...it'd look great here.

I agree, you should put campy on it, especially since you already have DA7400 on the Alan. I personally wouldn't go further than 8 speed in order to keep it period correct(ish). The 9 speed levers look considerably more modern and I think I would prefer a more traditional look on this frame.

Hypothetical dibs on the panto stem if you ever split and sell ;) May I ask where you got it from and how much you paid?

I actually might...found a black shorter panto stem in Italy and might very well sell the first.

This is the one I found. Same year (my frame has a 50th sticker, albeit is NOT the 50th-anniversary pantographed frame, whist this stem has the 50th panto): 1989

It should be fine and it's shorter, so once I get it and I am happy it looks the part, I can sell you the other one. If you don't find another earlier :)

So hawt! Love the paint job and the Tecnos compliment the decals so well, just wow!
Keep me updated about the stem, love the smoked chrome finish and I was gonna use 3ttt bars in the same finish anyway, so it would be a perfect match. Plus if I ever get a campa ti seatpost to complete my record ti group i figure it would match the stem and bars colour-wise :)

Indeed! I'm currently not working on the bike so I'm not actively looking for a panto stem but I will follow this thread with interest and await your decision :)

On a different note: I think a Selle Italia Turbo Matic with the yellow details would suit the build rather well!

Yeah indeed I need a saddle with some yellow...but got white bar tape (olmo) and white San Marco Ergo, so probably for now that'll be it.
Cables will be yellow though.

Mmm yellow cables won't make it in time, same for the handlebar tape...damn..wanted to build this tomorrow...will still do but not sure which cables to use now...maybe white (easier to find in shops)

On another news the blue cables for the Alan arrived :) so might build that one instead :p

A white saddle might be a bit more classy anyway - you want touches of yellow, not a full on colour fest.

What's with the Scapin on Flickr? I count a Somec, Olmo, ALAN, Scapin and a Moser in your stable. It's probably a bid sad on my part that I know this.

Whilst in Italy I got a very nice Daccordi Griffe for only 150€, but sadly too small for me. So a friend of mine is taking it and will give me the Scapin :)

This'll happen in September though, that's why there's no thread here yet.
