Wheel Hub identification

Posted on
  • Hi - unfortunately the rear spindle snapped last week. My local chap has had a look at it but no luck identifying the hub make or a replacement.
The hub has a wheel on it with a smiling spider in the center. Does anyone recognise this coz I could use some assistance please. (This is what happens when you buy wheels from a geezer.) That said they were good wheels with sealed races and although the rims (came with Remerx rims) are getting past their best, I would like to reuse the hub if possible.
    Any information welcomed.
    Cheers Marc

  • Its a nice looking hub but it doesnt have the friendly spider on it....

  • I am almost certain that hub is really commonly sold under different names, branded with various logos (or none). SJS cycles did them a while back, think the BLB hub is the same, Ambrosio, System X ... yada yada.

So if so the spindle should be really easily replaceable. Is your shop not used to dealing with singlespeed/fixed? Really really bog standard hub. Good too.

  • This is a novatec, rebranded.

  • @broken_777 That's the one that BLB, SJS etc used right?

  • Yes not sure where you can buy an acle though unless a srandard threaded axle can be used.

  • formula also do one which has different (and more attractive) apertures cut in it which is also widely rebranded. I don't know if the axels are the smae. Or if they all actually come from the same factory. Its all 6000 2RS bearings, though. Probably.

    This is the formula one.

  • Many thanks for this info - really appreciated.
Who in London central would be the best to handle this?
    Cheers

  • There is a tutorial. It should be fairly straightforward once you acquire the right axel.

  • The hubs are great, but they're so widely available and reasonably priced that a new one is going to be much less hassle.

You'll need to replace the bearings (well, one side at least) to replace the axle.

  • Blb is formula
    Sjs is Novatec,so is token.

  • Most probably Nobody, unless you are lucky and some shop has an old planet x rear track wheel in the scrap pile.
    I'd say try Condor.

  • Cheers guys, appreciate your advice.
