• Thanks for the info! That's what I suspected, mine's the one with the round logo at the back as opposed to the one with the red imprinted logo. Glad I got a white one as the frame doesn't have any yellow details :)

  • Yellow are the original. White are original reproductions.

  • Pink tape?

  • I don't think you're 'obliged' to match the hoods with your tape. I have white bar-tape with black hoods and it works pretty well:

But about the saddle, I guess white would work better. I've tried looking for a Flite in white, but to no avail.

  • Congrats on the San Remo, it really looks lovely! And I'm totally feeling you regarding the addiction to bikes and the need for counseling ;) I pulled the trigger on a mistery lo pro this week, so I also have 2 projects at the moment....

I guess pink tape is a bit too much on this one. I love the pink benotto tape on your Moser, but I think white tape would look better on my Scatto.

  • Thanks for the comments, I think I'm gonna follow your suggestion and go for white tape despite the black hoods. I already got the white regal and the black flite anyway so I'm just gonna try both of them and make my final decision once the build is finished. Btw: i think you posted the wrong link, it shows some white selle italia bar tape, no hoods tho...

  • Have you thought about Ivory Benotto?
Could look good with the fadez
Glad to see the Olmo club is growing at a rate! I recently finished mine, just waiting for a sunny day to take it out

  • Mh, I do like the colour and I think it would make for a nice look. But I always felt like the Benotto tape, as beautiful as it is, really suits bikes from the 80s rather than machines from the 90s. But this is probably subjective, so I'll consider it :)
Btw: Your super gentleman is drop dead gorgeous! Love the pantos and the Benotto tape on yours is spot on!

  • So I decided to extend this thread to my other projects since I think that it's more convenient. Hence the edited title.
At the beginning of this week I bought a lo pro. My plan is to build it up with a shimano 600 tricolor which I already have. Regarding the wheels, It would be nice to find a reasonably priced disc wheel for the rear or alternatively, I was thinking about building disc wheel covers myself. I know that many people on here probably consider this boderline or even full-on anti, but I like to experiment and build things and if they look shite I'll just abandon the idea. The bars are cut and flipped drop bars, since I'm not willing to spend 60+ € for proper bullhorns atm.

  • Love a good lo pro

Interested to see how you get on with a home build disc wheel as well. cool Proj mayn!

  • Cheers :)
I will document it on here!

  • I finally saw the frame in the flesh and gotta say I really like it. The fades are a bit sloppy here and there but imo it just adds character...
I got these matching purple look carbon pedals. So far I had toeclips on all my bikes. Since clipless would be more period correct for the Olmo I'm thinking about getting some cleats and shoes...

  • The Olmo wins :)

  • Paint on the Olmo is sick. Love the slapdash-ness of it.

  • Of course it does, they're not playing in the same league ;) The Olmo is my attempt to build a bike that may be considered bike-porn worthy. The Diamond is just my daily/beater.

  • Absolutely love the Olmo!!!!

  • so, what's the status of the Olmo build?

  • Still on hold but hopefully I'll find some time in the next couple of weeks to build it up. Fortunately I managed to get the BB out, which was a relief since apparently it was damaged when the previous owner installed it + it appeared to be slightly cross threaded. Will keep this thread updated as soon as there's 'real' progress :)

  • Wow, i took and posted these photos with my iPhone and they looked really nice on its display. But now that I'm looking at the photos on my computer, they really don't do the original colour justice.

Anywho, it seems like I'm stuck with the low stacking shimano 600 headset. Thought about using the locknut from the record headset but that would probably be borderline anti...
    Some thoughts re the build:

    • Not sure whether to go for white cable housings or the golden jagwire cables, as used on @Anidel 's olmo.
    • Haven't made my mind up regarding bar tape but I think I'll go for white fizik and a white saddle. My plan is to intially use a white regal which I already have. In the medium term I'll try to get an old flite which I'll upholster with White leather. I have a vgc flite in black which i don't want to strip. Might put that on as well.
Re tires I have to decide between gumwalls or Conti 4s. Anybody has any experience with these: https://www.bike-components.de/de/Challenge/Strada-Road-Open-Faltreifen-p48449/
Not sure about gumwalls on silver Atlanta rims, tho....
Also, I'd like to get some compact bars in silver with a 26mm clamp diameter. Will have to open a wanted thread at some point...

    @inkleined
Cheers! Glad you like it! I guess your Campa SR11 wouldn't look to bad on my Olmo either ;)
