I managed so it can't have been too complicated :)
Knock out old bearings from the opposite side and then use a 17mm socket (I think) to seat the new bearings. Although having watched the video I think @dubtap posted when I asked a week ago, I like the idea of using a QR skewer to seat the new bearings.
