Middleburn crank arms - it's a no from me.
They look like table legs.
-
• #12028
Exactly! Disk brakes, less saddle to bar drop and more fittings for racks and stuff.

Verging on anti for me
Really? What is possibly holding it back?!

Middleburn cranks...
The rest can get in the sea.

Is this new? just popped up on my PX email alert,
http://www.planetx.co.uk/i/q/ZXPXTIAD/planet-x-hurricane-audax-disc-titanium-frameset
Doesn't seem to have a geo chart up yet (edit: geo on the whole bike page), but seems kinda interesting, a bit like a cheaper Kinesis GF Ti / Enigma Etape / etc), with space for much larger tyres too.

Here's my CC. I just put a Kona Rove fork up front to see how disc would function and feel up front.
Not sure about the look now. Overall happy about the bike the only drawback like everone knows musr be the short headtube.

You can always get those tall stack ahead stem in black so it'll look much more fitting.
-
• #12034
Looks fine. Black spacers if you must.
-
• #12035
I was looking for the VO stems with the stack build in the stem.( quill style) But I could not find them anymore. I know Nitto also makes them out of steel but for that price I'm halfway a new frame.
Anyone?

I think it looks good. I like the disc front/ vbrake rear combo.
What is the rack?
-
• #12037
The rack is a non branded alu rack new sold for £ 5. It does work fine for now. Not sure if a VO or Nitto rack would suit this bike.

Few instock here: http://freshtripe.co.uk/Freshtripe/Handlebars,%20Headsets%20%26%20Stems.html
Genetic also make one, distributed by ISON so most LBS should be able to get if in for you...

That's pithy but not very scientific.
Pure rolling resistance has been investigated because it is easily isolated and measured. Until there has been research into the variation in effort required to move tyres of varying sizes and pressures (isolating variables) over obstacles, we cannot know that fat tyres are consistently better at this or whether any performance gains are a result of size or pressure differences. Moreover, once this is established, it then remains to be seen whether rolling resistance losses are sufficiently offset by vertical motion gains to make fat tyres worthwhile overall. It becomes a case of finding the optimal trade off.
I'll be riding Eroica Britannia in a few weeks on 35mm Compass tyres, so I'll let you know how it pans out.

Looks really good!

I've got bags of black spacers kicking around...
-
• #12042
Fat tyres always going to be better than skinny tyres out in the real world, it's moreof how fat you can go before it affect the aerodynamic factor.

Black spacers I have and not yet in the picture but there installed.
Thanks

To be honest I think this looks spot on. The bell covers up the spacer stack well, I might do something similar. Also nice work with the disk fork, I toyed with the idea of doing similar with a cheap carbon job but my money ran dry.

Was just going to mention the Genetic ones.
They're quite good. Don't look as good in black though, but if it suits the bike then so be it.

Nice bike btw. Looks great.

• #12047
Thanks, sir.
I also was thinking at first to go carbon but it just would not be right.
Not sure if I'm going to keep this setup but for now it's fun. Also the Rove fork has more rake so now there is no toe overlap anymore. Another plus I quess. -

Only want to see you riding with a purple frame.
Purple frame, purple frame.

topical - would rep.
oh really? More of a dedicated tourer?
