I bet you guys there had lots of fun while doing your duty. Our streets are more safe now, and I feel much more security around me after decades of valorous missions in the middle east and surrounding from courageous soldiers, politicians, traders etc. All this for protect your country and the people filled innit. So many metal toys at your mercy to have fun with too. Gosh I wish I had the balls for to be part of it.
I met him in Afghan. Before he was doing the chopper pilot stuff he was a Forward Air Controller, seemed like a nice enough bloke and was good at his job. He didn't get any special treatment from anyone I knew, and coped with the shitty winter mud as well as everyone else.
When he was out there as a pilot, he was protecting platoons, not the other way round. When you're out on the ground, the only sound better than an Apache is an A10.
