that is a great link. lots of sizes. was hoping to take my bike somewhere and test a few before I buy but its looking unlikely.
were these a true p shape, not ones you have to bend to kinda make a p?

Well, they are kinda bendy to whatever shape. They are quite big for the advertised size; I've ordered some smaller ones. This is "16mm":

I should have some 13mm and 10mm arriving in the next couple of days, so if you are not in a hurry I can let you know how they work out.

I got mine from here - just ordered some more as turns out there are no mounting points for a rear 'guard on Charge Plug 0. Annoyed, as I thought it was just the drop out fixing point which was missing.

Apart from that, Wakefields on Lea Bridge Road (Bakers Arms) is a great place with loads of stuff in little trays and helpful staff.
