  • the 'cord's shutter is inaccurate ? Usually sticky, so really overexposed?

  • @haveo Exposure is the same, whether it is 35mm, 120 (MF) or 4x5 (LF).

  • Ah yes, just read the same thing on google. Apologies, ignore my bullshit

  • I was actually metering with my digital camera, but the light was just so variable I guess.

Hard to say what's going on from here.
Could be bad scanning as well? The middle castle picture looks weird. Are the negs all over the place as well?
Those at the sea you posted above look fine, exposure wise - or did you get really bad ones there as well you didn't post?

Another thing that came to mind is the t-stop of the rollei being quite different to the one of the digital one you're metering with.. though can't imagine this making more than one stop difference..

I'd sacrifice one roll (shot with various speeds and controlled lighting) to really get to the root of the problem..

  • Yeah, I've never really done straight up test shots so it might be worthwhile.

The first 5 photos are all exposures between 1 and 6 seconds.

  • You will probably have to compensate for reciprocity failure for more than a few seconds exposure on pro 400, I doubt it's that significant tho tbh

  • What I'm doing is actually a bit different.

Your digi cam will be able to spot meter if you want.

A shaded area is good to meter because it gets relatively constant indirect-light in those sorts of conditions.

    Could be the shutter though...

  • That's true, I've swapped to using the old Lunasix 3 meter, just taking average readings and seeing how that compares.

I'm also keeping a journal off each film I shoot, what subjects, weather and settings.

Also here's some Olympus XA + Ilford XP2 Super.

  • Nice ^

  • Just happy to combine, in focus, exposed properly and subject playing ball into at least one shot out of 12!

  • Olympus XA on Poundland Vista.

  • Hi Guys, I was just wondering how you do something.
When you want to make hyperlinks so you can add in the description of photos on say tumblr or flickr to your website or instagram or flickr how do you do it?

Because I have to manually do it each time which takes to long!

    Is there any other way?

  • Nice photos!

I'm looking at getting an XA myself - I've got an XA2 but it's a little limited, even through I did buy it as my film point and shoot. How do you find it for speed of focusing ? One advantage of the zone focus on the XA2 is that you almost just forget about focus control!

  • Hi man, I use the XA a lot, when on the bike or doing street stuff I zone focus.

Otherwise it's it really fast to focus, not SLR quick but not TLR slow.

  • A load of photos fom my XA here: https://flic.kr/s/aHskeo4YDe

  • Nice shots, looks like the lens is pleasingly sharp. Nice beagle too.

Off topic, but have to ask, is the Westfield yours?

  • It's a great camera!

Yes the Westfield is mine :)

  • A few more XA photos just back from the lab.

  • Neat.
Also like the first one of the Poundland Vista post above a lot..

Makes me think about swapping one of my 35mm point-and-shoots for a XA again
(I decided I shall have no more than three :)

  • Still shifting through HK snaps. MJU ii x fujicolour 100

  • I really love my XA, do it!

  • Sorry for bombing the thread but I'm shooting a lot of film and love to hear peoples thoughts on my stuff.
