  • I bought a Corima frame from a bloke in the US and when it arrived it was obvious that it had been front ended at some point.

I contacted the fella and he said: "Oh, has it? What do you want me to do about it?"

I asked him for a refund and explained that I'd been advised that it wasn't safe to ride. He refunded me for the frame but not the postage.

He didn't ask for the frame back, but he coughed my $800 fairly easily.

  • @haveo Was this a forum purchase?

Original text was deleted but Velocio brought it back this morning

  • Paypal seemingly (from my experiences anyway) does always favour the buyer.

  • crack in a used carbon frame is acceptable

lol, yeh totally especially in the seat tube. Not acceptable at all and at the price you paid and the reputation of those frames especially. Also the fact that a crack in the seat tube makes it not possible to ride the bike, and makes it unsafe :/

  • @haveo sorry for your bad experience, the frame looked well nice, repairable? Hope you get all your money back

  • Cheers. A repair would likely be complicated and probably end up damaging the paint so probably more effort then it is worth

  • The frame is an Anchor, I've seen a couple of others with similar geometry to mine. He did send me more pictures on request, but comparing them to the frame they have been taken in a way to miss the worst parts.

I already have his address... He's in South Korea

  • Legit anchor Is legit

  • Dodgy wanchor is dodgy...

  • Was it a puma? Still got it?

  • It's a Cougar - the road version.

It's in storage at the moment and will probably end up being a wall dweller when I eventually move back and construct a man cave.

It could be made safe with a steel sheath, but there's no guarantee on the integrity of the crabon.

  • Ooohhh, if you fancy selling, I'd be prepared to take the risk getting it fixed! Always wanted one!

  • Dropped the frame with the guys at the Red Bike shop and they have concluded that the frame is unsafe to ride due the seat clamp. I'll be starting the claim when I get home

  • Duckin scumbag. Tell him I've got a Takhion for sale and to PayPal gift me 1000usd. I'll ship him an empty Bridgestone anchor box with loads Japanese newspaper p*rn inside and see how he likes that

  • Can you get them to put this in writing? You'll probably need it down the line for Paypal resolution.

  • @BigH haha sounds like a plan.

@Pifko Already done, I have a document and pictures taken by them ready to submit

  • What a fucking ball-ache. Hope it works out for you.

  • is the crack inside the seatpost bolt hole as i seem to remember from the pic? tbh, it could be an honest mistake then. or am i wrong bout the position?

  • Yeah the metal has split apart at the rear of the seatbolt hole. I believe as a result the bolt doesn't clamp the post properly.

My guess as to what caused it is that the seatpost was positioned too high (the post it came with is very short) and the force has forced the metal apart.

from the way he has responded I'm pretty sure he knew about it

  • Yep, sounds like an absolute chancer.

My understanding is, under the distance selling regs, the return postage has to be footed by the buyer? However, you can always contest this with the seller, if they're decent enough they'll sometimes accept all cost and, with it, the responsibility. Doesn't sound like this guy's on that wavelength, however...

    All the best man

  • Right, so PayPal have sided with me and have told me to ship it back the the seller. However I've recieved a message from him telling me to not ship as he is going to contact PayPal. He said if I ship it he won't accept it and it'll end up back with me.

    What should I do?
