2014-06-10 - Rider Down/fatality, Great Bookham, Surrey

A cyclist has been killed in a crash with a car in Great Bookham, Surrey Police said.

The man in his 60s was riding along Lower Road at 16:20 BST when he was hit by a grey Peugeot 308 at the junction with East Road.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Lets get them off the road - compulsory eyesight test every twelve months for anyone over 60

Barrett's eyesight was a major issue in this case. He failed an eye test at the roadside, and again a few months later, leading to the suspension of his licence.

I was watching one of these real life police shows the other day where a driver in exactly the same condition was pulled over (loss of sights and cognitive ability), it was ascertained that she was suspended. The car was confiscated and eventually crushed. They only spotted her because she was driving erratically; putting her reg in the system so it could be flagged by an ANPR car would be a start.
