That's amazing! I really hope they were put in the post three years later.

Yeah, let it rest then? Friday is still 2 days away, mind...

I'm sure something has been lost in translation, I don't suppose it has taken him three years to post them: no pitchforks!

I had a horrible experience with this dutch guy called Sir Pete. ( http://www.sir-pete.com/ , https://www.facebook.com/SirPeteBikes )
He sold me a "paint damaged" frame which he "couldn't even get a picture of the damage" it was so minimal. The frame was dirt cheap so I purchased it. Communication was great and nearly instant through our emails until I paid, which is when I had to wait for a week to get any type of replies.
The frame also took a month to arrive because of something he is not willing to disclose despite numerous queries by me.
The rear drive-side drop was badly damaged and an axle would've not fit through it. There was no mention of this anywhere and each time I've since (1 month ago now) contacted him he avoids my emails completely or when he gets mad enough to answer he avoids mentioning anything about the damaged dropout.
I recommend everyone to stay clear of this dude as he might cheat you out of 500 euros for a damaged frame and fail to mention it or take responsibility afterwards. REALLY drives me mad this type of thing and the nerve of some people.

Did you send without receiving payment?

yep. i've sold a stem to another chap for about the same price at the same time so when received the payment thought it was for the seatpost, so have shipped straight away.

That's sad to hear. Two years ago I came across his shop (Sir Pete Bikes) at the end of my spring tour in Groningen and had a really nice impression of him. The guys inside were really decent and didn't make the impression of being no serious dealers. I would've never imagined that something like this could happen when dealing with them.
I hope this resolves otherwise I would be really disappointed..

Question regarding returning an item which isn't as described. Do I ask them to refund the shipping amount I payed? Who pays the return shipping?
-
• #4017

I've opened a dispute and he has replied to me. He's basically saying the crack wasn't there when he sent it, however I see no way how it could of happened during transport. Either way it wouldn't my issue but his with the delivery company.
He told me that he won't refund me so looks like I'll have to end up making a claim.
Yeah I'll give PayPal a ring today

Yeh when I have had problems via PayPal I have always rung them and been friendly and built up a rapport with the person on the other end of the blower. Shows them that you mean well, makes them believe your side of the story more also. Also it's a good idea to go to a few bike shops and get written signed statements saying the frame isn't safe to ride and say that on the phone and that you will upload them in your supporting documents in your claim.

The seller has since been banned, his email and PayPal email published, and his comments on other sites such as PedalRoom now have "buyer beware" warnings with a link back to my announcement that I've banned the guy and he's mis-selling items.

Has anybody ever had a problem getting there money back from paypal as a buyer ? They always side with the buyer don't they ? I don't have any personal experience as never had a problem as a buyer, or a seller, but there seem to be a lots general moaning from sellers regarding it.

Having been in the same position recently, Paypal advised I had to pay for the return the goods myself.
They'll advise that you need to get the frame assessed by an impartial 3rd-party.
When they eventually advise you to send back to the seller, use a big firm with online tracking, as this is what Paypal use to determine whether you actually posted the item back. They basically have software which runs the tracking code you give them against the majority of courier firms. I used a smaller yet reputable) firm and it turned out that they weren't on their 'system' meaning I got a nice email saying that they decided in the seller's favour as they couldn't confirm the damaged frame had been returned, which I later got overturned.
In summary, keep all correspondence through Paypal and get onto the phone to Paypal as soon as you get any confusing email from them or some sort of decision that hasn't gone in your favour.
Also, the process to upload attachments to your case in the resolution centre is fucking shit - Again, phone them if you have any problems and they can make the changes to your case to allow you to do this.

Yeah I'll get on that today, taking it to a couple of bike shops is a good idea. He's trying to tell me that a crack in a used carbon frame is acceptable and that I'm being 'sensitive'...
