anybody created a forum team for the 100 miler?!
-
• #28
^ nope but keen to join
-
• #29
just need a team name then,
we could go for the obvious, "LFGSS" (!),
or a play on that,
"Local Fun Gatherings and Social Scenarios" ?!
.. but that might be too long..
"forum mongers on tour",
{Oktoberfest beer from last night has at least temporarily zapped any creative impulses!}
any other suggestions?!

so might actually see you there this time then @7VEN (!), all being well...
.. to avoid ticket faff this time, have pre-registered, :-)

Somehow I'm on the mailing list for this. Yuk. This obsession faded union jacks, looking a bit 50s, tweed and bunting can just fuck right off. Have you seen the royalistoid claptrap on the website?

Alright grumpy cakes, it's only a bit of jolly old fun.
I've decided I'm going to do L'EB this year with my 9 year old on the tandem, or on my sweet fixeh trike if she can't be arsed and I'm looking forward to it already. Either way it won't be the 100 but I'll track you lot down around the campsite if not on the road.
Dressing up makes everything more fun. #fact

I've been considering 'backwards modifying' my early 90's tandem. The missus would prefer that to riding solo bikes. Anyone here have experience of bar end shifters? Are they all indexed? I'm sure they used to be un-indexed back in the 70's
-
• #35
yep, on my 1967 Mercian they were unindexed,,,, took skills to get any of the 5 gears
-

The front/left hand is friction only on my 8 speed set. The right hand can be either index or friction. As i have an 8 speed drive train I have it set up as indexed.

Happy New Year Ben...1 Attachment
I missed this, but happy new year to you too Timothy.
There I am on the first tweed run. Not wearing tweed, just my regular clothing and my regular 'nice' bike.

Booked your tickets yet? :)
-
• #39
Nope.
Trying to plan a bike tour somewhere in Wales. There will be No Bunting.
-

I am now officially booked in for this, in the campervan field. Route and cycle choice TBC.
Be nice to have a little forum meet up somewhere, sometime. But not in my bus, too small.

I would suggest some time on Saturday in the pub-tent. If last year's anything to go by, it get's pretty ram-o by 12pm so 11.30 would be good to get a seat & avoid long cueues. I will try & remember to bring my LFGSS cap with my Southgate CC jersey for maximum identifiability

Kewl.
I got an email today advising the event is now sponsored by Maserati. Seems an obvious choice.

My brother is coming over from NZ to ride this with me. Yes yes yes!
-
• #47
is this the only one you're yet to attend now?!
-
• #48
^ nah, they keep on adding them quicker than i can knock em off
-
• #49

-
• #50
Yep, if my fitness holds up! You?
ps. @dallas, re. the OP / title / subject, per the website, its: "EROICA BRITANNIA" (in English, without the continental 'L'!),
(but this thread still shows-up in an 'Eroica' search, so who cares!)
