  • I don't. Good talking point though (if that's what you want)

  • If searching 40th birthday pressies you've got to aim higher than that m8. :-)

  • Could be worse I guess

    Good thing I love Panerai

  • Thing is I like the SKX but for what I use it for it's not ideal. Fine for general use, swimming and on the bike etc. but it has been stopped on a few occasions after a big wave smashes me. I've been assured that it doesn't damage the watch but I'd rather have something not affected by shocks. And for that I think Quartz is better. I'll save up and get myself a nice Omega Seamaster at some point.

I like the Citizen I linked and at £180 I think it's fair (ISO certified divers) but what else would be suggested in that price range?

  • A guy who I've chatted to before attended this:

Personally, I cringe when I hear about such events. I think the Tudor Oyster Prince was his.

  • M.O.G.

  • Really considering buying a Ray II in blue

My Seiko 6105 is being over hauled, needs a fair amount of work so won't have it for 6 months :S There's a video from the guy restoring it here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcF6S1VLPnc&feature=youtu.be

I considered a SKX, but it looks like the baby brother of the 6105, so don't really want two of the same watches.

What do people think of Orients ? I know the Ray II is new, there doesn't seem to be much. Would be $185 which is fine.

  • Happy #wedneSKXday

  • Yeahhhh, Nice

Did you change the bezel yourself?

    here's mine

  • I'm quite liking the Tudor Black Bay 36. Looks an ideal watch for work with shirt/suit with 36mm size. Nice to see a company not just doing the bigger and bigger and watches.

  • Yeah, bezel swap was pretty easy, Jimmy the whole bezel off, use a knife to lift the insert out, clean it, put the glue ring down, pop the new insert in, refit the bezel (2 heavy books to sandwich it on)

  • Many thank for the info, I'll give it a try, did you buy the bezel on eBay? there are a couple on there at the mo, cheers!

  • .

  • Yeah ebay, only cost a couple of quid.
    Quick and easy job.

  • My dad died recently and I've been given his old Omega Speedmaster 125 automatic. It's been though the wars and neglected for sometime but I'd like to get it serviced and workign again.

Can anyone recommend someone good? I've no clue what a repair like this will cost (and there are so many variables) but what region would it be in so I can have an idea I've saved enough before I try to get it sorted? Are we talking £50, £100, £500 what????

  • I had a great exchange about servicing a vintage Omega with this guy - http://www.robertreeves.co.uk/

They might be able to give you an estimate for the work.

They can't work on mine and pointed me to Swiss Time Services - who have ignored me for 2 weeks.

  • Robert Reeves is fantastic although be prepared for a minimum wait of six months before he can fit you in.

He has done a few Rolex services for me in the past.

  • Ah. I probably found him through one of your recommendations on here. Cheers for that.

  • Thanks both for the recommendation!

  • Omega Speedmaster 125>

Lovely watch. I'd estimate vaguely around £200 servicing plus any parts needing replaced. Parts shouldn't be too difficult to source for that movement if any need replacing.

  • In my opinion Swiss time services services are the best in the UK. I probably send 20 to 25 jobs a month. The job they did on my speedy pro mark 2 was incredible ( pics on here somewhere) or ask Beau Nidle as he has seen in flesh. For something as special as the watch you are describing I wouldn't use anybody else. Probably not even the factory themselves. I have 3 speedmaster and have been looking for a 125 to add to my collection, lovely watch

  • I've used them as well - they ain't cheap and they take forever, but they're very good.

  • Nice, innit? See also the new IWC 36mm Pilot's watch:

  • Shit me that's nice.
