  • Internal cable routing complicates everything, although some frames are much better than others. If you can get hold of the thin casings that come in some new frames or something similar you can put that over the old cable, remove the old cable then put through the new ones easily. There are various other tips and tricks too involving magnets and such, but some long, thin tubing is best.

  • I have some 105 5700 shifters, RD and 53/39 Chainset if you want to keep the cost down. PM if you're interested.

  • that looks good - I paid a tick more from Merlin, I think was closer to 300. But I got a spare set of the latest brand new 105 Shifters if you want to take them off my hands, totally unused and still in box. One went on to a set of bars for abt 10 mins before I pulled it off again. Then I bought the whole set.

  • Anyone know why my carbon frame would have a bmx seatpost diameter? Also any decent 22.2mm seatposts?

  • To keep the aerofoil tube profile as slim as possible?

  • Anywhere around Tayyabs (E1) that has semi-reasonable (secure) cycle parking?

  • replace my entire drive chain

Good advice: replacing just a few links is a faff.

  • I'm trying to install mudguards on my road bike. Turns out I need a pair of Sheldon nuts. Just to be sure, does anybody know what length I'll need?

  • Problem Solvers do 10, 13 and 32 mm. You probably want the 32 mm.

  • The Xperia transfer app doesn't seem to connect with my old phone. What's the next best solution?

  • But bmx have 25.4?

Looks like an aero oval special seatpost to round seatpost adapter has been used to make it very small.

  • Internal cable routing complicates everything.

You made it sound like cantis.

  • Some of them can be right muggy cantis.

  • I got mine from here - just ordered some more as turns out there are no mounting points for a rear 'guard on Charge Plug 0. Annoyed, as I thought it was just the drop out fixing point which was missing.

Apart from that, Wakefields on Lea Bridge Road (Bakers Arms) is a great place with loads of stuff in little trays and helpful staff.

  • Thanks for the above. I've got a couple of vouchers for Evans, which make that set rather cheaper than it might otherwise be.

Next question... SwissStop green or blue for alloy rims?

  • I know transfil housings are @mdcc_tester approved, but does anyone know if this is actually compressionless or just normal housing?

  • I know the KBLE housing I fitted recently wasn't compressionless, so that description may be dubious- think the compressionless stuff is black/flying snake.

  • ^This

  • This was my suspicion, but I ordered one just to see. It's not for discs so it's not a huge issue anyway.

  • I've got Kble on the tandem, it's fine even with nearly six feet of cable.

  • Good to know. Luckily my tandem (where this may well go) has cable stops so there's surprisingly little housing needed.

  • Has anyone used Paypal Credit? Anything I should be weary of?
I'm intending to repay the full amount before the 4-month 0% interest period is over.

  • Black or silver headset on my donohue? I'm putting a non-threaded carbon fork on it. It's red.
