  • That's what I get with a gpx file. No TBT nav, but an off course meeple if I go off course. TCX can indeed fuck off with its TBT directions. Most of the time I find it's telling me not to turn off the road I'm on onto tiny farm tracks, dirt roads and footpaths. Not exactly helpful, given that I wasn't planning to anyway.

  • So you export a GPX course and navigate with it but with TBT turned off?

My GPX files give me TBT on 800 and 1000 if I have it enabled, which I usually do. The difference with the TCX is it pops up little notes for every cuesheet instruction as well ("Turn left toward Middlegreen Rd" or some shit).

  • Don't think I've got TBT turned off. I think the GPX files I use just don't have that information. 'Distance to destination' and 'Distance to next' are always identical when I'm using routes I've downloaded, which suggest that the routes don't have any information about turns. I've used TCX files but can't recall any cuesheet information, but it's possible the TCX files I was using simply didn't have them.

  • I export the "GPX Track" from Ridewithgps.

I have Turn by Turn OFF but Off Course Warnings ON.

That gives me a line to follow on the map and a beep if I go off course.
