Sounds like Clerkenwell Screws or Romany's, somebody will know where the good ones are in other boroughs.

Yes, it is. No, there aren't. Not really.

Does anyone know anything about staining wood?
Quite a niché question and trivial question, but I have a shoe brush that I'm reshaping, stripping and that I want to visually designate it as the black polish brush.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stain it a dark colour?
Its cheap wood, so doesn't have an amazing grain or anything. Black stain followed by a wax / varnish seems like the obvious route, but I'm not mad about an 80s style black hi-fi cabinet.
Any suggestions?

Just put black polish on it?

My dad just gouged "BR" and "BL" on his shoe polish brushes.
Where in London has a good stock of non-melvin-looking cycling glasses? Condor?

might be worth trying city hardware. i know i gave up and bought them online though when I was hunting for them. oddly, I also have a feeling that fitzrovia cycles might be worth phoning as they might have some. or https://www.evanscycles.com/tortec-p-clips-00120876

Clerkenwell Screws are always so grumpy...

I kinda wanted something that wasn't black-black... more conveyed blackness.
I think I'm going to try that vinegar and steel aging thing and see how it looks.
@fizzy.bleach what did "BR" and "BL" stand for? BRown and BLack?

romanies is a good call but i thought they had shut down?
Their web site is still up, so I assumed they were still in business. I delivered to them about 6 months ago.
Worth trying electrical wholesalers, there are many styles of cable P-clip and one of them will probably work for whatever you're trying to do.

If the wood can be sanded bare, give india ink a try - though it does make things very black. You'll want a poly finish of some sort.

Bromptons are $weet but Dahon/Tern are very good value.

I've been told I need to replace my entire drive chain, and my rear wheel. I'm guessing that now is a good time to upgrade the groupset. I'm currently on Sora, and looking at switching to 105
How easy is this, and what tools do I need?
How much is it complicated by internal cable routing?
What else should I be asking? -
• #76023
Unless you go for an old version you will need a new 11sp hub as well... I just made that mistake, annoyed the feck out of me as I only realised my ridiculous mistake as I was left with the 12 tooth cog in my hand while I was trying to fit the cassette..! I'd already fitted everything else... IDIOT!
Internal cable routeing I have no idea but I always assumed you'd use the old cable to pull the new cable through?
Tools - Allen keys, Shimano bottom bracket removal tool, wire cutters, big spanner and chain whip, small screwdriver, pedal spanner...
or take it to the lbs

That was why I was thinking that now was a good time to upgrade, I need a new rear wheel too.
I was looking at http://v-sprint.com/product/carbon-alloy-wheels/road-wheels/sportive-road-wheels-pro/ from @varno
and https://www.evanscycles.com/shimano-105-5800-groupset-52-36-11-32-EV237773 to go with it (can anyone see it cheaper anywhere?)

Bromptons are $weet but Dahon/Tern are very good value.
The other big plus with Bromptons is that they hold their value. So if you buy 2nd hand in sensible condition you're likely to be able to sell for the same money.
Plus they are brilliant little things.
Anyone know a good fixing and fittings shop in London. Pref the type full of tiny boxes of nuts, bolts, washers etc and someone behind the counter that has been there forever and knows all. Tired of having to explain what p clips are.
