Developing an emotional attachment to my G+ corsas. They are fucking brilliant. They just let me be me

dont bother with latex tubes on commuter bike. They lose air which means you will have to pump them daily. Normal Butyl tubes + marathon supreme + some sealant inside tubes.

Sealants a faff no? Rather she got into the habit of swapping out inner tubes. It's part of the cycling experience...

You've changed your tune

I think it's just another fad, and tyre MFG's are starting to realise this, hence the lack of any decent compatible tyres. You (like myself) are a confirmed buyer though, so succumbing to good marketing is forgivable in this instance.
Glad you like the new rig. It's a bit lairy. Come visit sometime and we can go ride in Wales. It's nice there.

Not really, I use this: https://www.bike24.com/1.php?content=8;product=133638;menu=1000,185,188 very easy through valve. Just another cheap fail safe if you can be bothered. Supremes dont really puncture. They come up a little narrow than what it says on the pack.

Missus bikes are always butyl ;) Plus dont think a latex tube will make any diff in Marathon.
-
• #3159
Don't go for sealant! normal inner tube and marathon supreme will be fine.

Marathon Supreme or Vittoria Voyager Hyper (folding of course). Both light(ish) and plenty enough puncture protection.
Buy Schwalbe tyres from Germany for the best price.

I commuted on latex inner tubs for a while. Incredibly annoying having to pump your tyres up every morning

I have open pave 27s on a minimal w chorus calipers and there's heaps of room.

Tyre boot question: I have a vittoria open corsa sc on a rear wheel. Plenty of life left but there is a vertical slice in the sidewall. Not quite clean through but starting to bulge. Bin it or attempt to use a patch to act as a boot? Or other ways to fix?
-
• #3164
Ditch it.
-
• #3165
Doesn't says much really, as it varies on the frames.
-
• #3166
Put a boot in there, had a boot in an new gatorskin, which had a hole in the sidewall, used it on the summer bike and punctures occurred everywhere apart from there.
Nothing wrong with getting the most out of your tyres, reuse, repair, recycle and all that..

Gatorskin sidewall are tough, the race tyres however are super delicate.
Can risk it but advise against it.

Anyone know how 26c Spesh Turbo Cottons size up on 23mm rims? Heard they're a bit small.
-
• #3169
How does the frame affect the under-crown clearance of a fork or brakes?
-
• #3170
Cheers Ed, this was my gut instinct. The sidewalls are so supple and thin I can't imagine them holding up to any serious corners or pressure, even with a boot. Oh well, they rode beautifully until now.

Latex tubes are a stupid idea for anything except racing.

Schwalbe rubber has been good to me. Durano or Marathon (whatever comes in the size you need). Durano Plus are STUPID durable but weigh a tonne (if that's a consideration). I'm using Durano Plus on one bike and a version of Durano on the faster training bike. Both been good.

Don't need sealant.

What's up Conti boy? Coming to the dark side? Next you'll be racing on 28s like the rest of the cool kids..
Latex tubes mitigates snake bites quite well.
