• Been building this for about a year now. Having bought this as a frame I tried to give a modern take on what it once was.

I managed to speak to the second owner of the frame. It was bought by him second hand from a bike shop in Reading circa 1980. Raced by him on the Reading velodrome from 1980 until 1990. The paint has been confirmed as original.

Having found some images of how the bike was back then I've tried to keep the parts as close as possible to those that were on it originally. Some are modern versions of the originals. Part of me wanted to keep it off the road. But I also wanted to ride it all the time so here we are:

    Geoffrey Butler circa 1970’s 56cm

  • ^ Chain's on backwards. That aside, that's not a track crank so would not be suitable for this build.

I understand the stem to be a Cinelli #2 - they were common from about 1950-1960... period correct would be an early version of a 2a alloy stem.
I think that older Pista cranks (period correct versions) would suit the frame better, but I understand the desire to go for the more modern variant.
    Lovely build!

  • +>>>>>> Didn't you have a bike like this?

Fucks sake, stupid bloody name, some one get TS to answer me!

  • This is a nice build. I picked up what I think is a GB frame from the same era on the forum but it has been resprayed unfortunately. Was your front fork drilled because I have an identical looking crown on mine and it isn't. Might restore mine or just sell it
