I've heard that name before, too, but I don't know the spelling, either. A spot of searching didn't bring up anything obvious.

http://www.varonha.co.uk/ is winston's website
Winston did a good job fixing my lemond and is very quick. Mario i was less impressed with since he left paint and primer in seatube, all threads, headtube, and fork crown but is cheap so i guess you get what you pay for.
-
• #18
Thanks, jupiz, corrected. 'Varonha' it is, not 'Veronha'.
Mario only paints frames rather than building them, doesn't he?
-
• #19
Yeah, Mario only paints. FWIW Winston is the most experienced frame builder in London, if not the country.
-
• #20
Yup I only mentioned Mario since him and winston work from the same building (he's upstairs and winstons on the ground floor), which is pretty useful.

And they're brothers. Winston gave me a really good price on a repair the other day.
I've heard Barry Witcomb is still repairing in Ron Cooper's old workshop at Colour Tech in Dartford. This may be bollocks.

My mate Daz operates as Phoenix Hotworks (phoenixhotworks.com) and is based in Edgware. He learned from Tom Board so he knows his stuff. Does custom builds, repairs etc.

Ha, Darren. Good to hear he's set himself up like that. The last time I bumped into him was at Critical Mass some years ago, outside the Duke of York (as was), and he said he was building frames from home. He was starting to get into framebuilding when Chaingang was my local bike shop and already had some very pretty frames in the window.
I met Tom Board, too, when he was working at Chaingang, but had no idea at the time that he had such a history. The last I heard, he was living in a nursing home somewhere--do you know if he's still around?
I've added Darren to the list above.

Another starting up is our own James O'Sullivan @jimjamosullivan. Hopefully he'll follow up his name check and let you know what he is doing. Currently he is working in Southgate Road, Islington almost opposite the Rosemary Branch .
Check my project thread here - http://www.lfgss.com/conversations/283761/#comment12871589
for what he is doing for me.
Can anyone help me, I'm researching bike companies that make/ build their stuff in London.
So far I've found Rusby Bicycles, Hartley Cycles, Brompton (obviously) and Malcolm Custom Bicycles.
Any help would be appreciated.
