  • I just got a pair of post-recall 202's, I wonder how they will try to hurt me?

  • Post latest recall. This is the third recall for Zipp hubs.

  • True. What's the worst that could happen?

  • Death. Explosions. Four horsemen riding. Eternal damnation. Or, even worse, having to navigate your way around a Zipp recall, getting batted between SRAM customer services, Fisher Outdoors, and bike shops who really, really just can't be arsed.

  • I haven't had any of that.

Oh, that's because I haven't sent it back yet.

    Oops

Seriously though CRC sent out an email and are dealing with it pretty professionally thus far, they just can't have my wheel yet because you know, races > faces.

  • Because I've got four to get done (#boastpost) I'm trying to get a single shop to take them all, which is necessarily not going to be where I bought them from, and preferably somewhere I can deliver them in person rather than having to find 4 wheel boxes. Massive PITA.

  • I see. Well, only one of my four Zipp wheels (#boastpost) is due to be recalled and I'm using it so they're gonna have to wait. If I die, tell them they owe me a new wheel!

  • I don't have a Zipp wheels (#boastpost).

  • You're too a HED of the curve for me.

  • Do you have a shed where i can Park Tools for a while?

  • I can see a few more similar posts happening based on this formula.

  • I'm just releived it's only 4 of my 13 Zipp wheels which have to go back. #BoastyMcBoastPost

  • Rear hanger on steel frame looking benty so I reach for the alignment tool and then try to remove the fucking SRAM Apex RD.

How do you manage to design a bolt that is too deep for any standard allen key I have in the house to get a decent grip and also have an aperture too narrow for a Y shape 3 way tool to go in either.

Bolt seems to have ended up rounded out but look, it's only 18 shitting pounds for a replacement once I drill the useless fucker out.

  • Nice reference on the tags.

  • I have two of those derailleurs and all of my hex keys (even the 3 way ones) fit. Bit strange

  • I'm just relieved I managed to summon Steve Hed back from the dead to build my warehouse full of bespoke experimental wheels that all test so fast they make Zipps look like housing estates in the tunnel. #micdropvoodoocureddeathbeatphysicsendofdaysboastiestpostiestpost

    A wild drivetrain competitor appears!

Not sure what would make me switch from a Shimano Shadow+ though...not much info in the post.

  • Just serviced the Serotta, upper jockey wheel was all but frozen - very surprised as I'd not felt the resistance, however it must have been there.

What jockey wheels should I get to replace the existing Ultegra ones- OEM, something else?

  • Take apart the jockey wheels and clean it up? (assuming you haven't done that yet).

  • The one I removed doesn't appear to be a very good design, whereas the one I took out of a much more recent Ultegra mech is significantly better- plus the old one didn't get any better after cleaning it.

If no one has any suggestions I'll get new Ultegra ones.

  • They're meant to make no difference unless you spend £££ on them so Ultegra is probably the best choice.

  • If no one has any suggestions I'll get new Ultegra ones.

Go for it, I honestly don't see any reason why not, especially on the Serotta which isn't exactly made for marginal gain.

  • We use tacx ones, they seem fine.

  • The only place I can find that sells the Ultegra ones is Rose, and postage is £7.60.
