No not tried it yet tbh but the clamp isn't too wide so not expecting problems getting it through. And there's always the coin trick indeed.
@coventry_eagle yeah definitely considering something like Sachs New Success. Won't be building the ZX1 until the new year though.

Yep they're New Success with ergo brifters and cassette hub. Drop me a PM once you've decided on the build.

As with all yours, rad bike.

I love how the silverish-gray parts harmonise with the black. Have you considered outer cables in the colour of the decals? :)
where did you get the procraft compacts? be aware, that they are lacquered with laser etched logos.. :( one can remove the graphics from deda bars with nail polish lifter&a rag in a few minutes, but removing laser engraved logos is kinda impossible..

outers will be black :)
what i would like is a blue ck headset, but they seem impossible to find and are super expensive in 1".. might track down a set of blue controltech allen bolt skewers.
logos don't bother me really. the stem is laser engraved too, so nothing i could do even if i wanted to :)

I've never needed to use the coin trick in the past. I'm sure its useful on some bars. Probably worth noting though that Jan uses it on a steel stem. Might be less favourable on alu stems.

It works on aluminium, you just have to remember not to go nuts because the thicker material means that the strain on the stretched side is proportionally greater.

Just finished this with parts lying around a bit of a mix but rides nice. Hopefully today's the day to finish up a few projects

Nearly done with this, just a few rear derailleur adjustments and should be ready to hit the road.

Finito for now

Wow! Very interesting! What tires? Little too wide for rims, no?..
-
• #107568
They're Compass Rat Trap Pass. 26x2.3"
Maybe a bit wide, but tbh there's more than enough pressure in them to keep them round and happy. You'd need preposterously wide rims to noticeably change the cross section of a tyre that big, and lightweight rims with a braking surface are few and far between.
