Chuck the battery in some pipe insulation and it'll sit nicely.

Yeah good idea. Better than the cut up camping matt one I had. The other was cutting a polystyrene block to fit seat tube and then cutting a whole to fit it in there.

Or use Sugru to make the battery fit. Currently a project I'm undertaking on my S2 rebuild.
