  • No doubt the European ban didn't do any English clubs any favours but the hooligan problem was getting out of hand at many clubs and really should have been tackled before Heysel happened. And if Everton were the best club in the world at that time you got to wonder why they didn't go on to dominate domestic football for the following years. In those days European football wasn't the cash cow it is now and there was not such an emphasis on attracting foreign talent by playing in Europe.
