There are loads of great OD and distortion pedals available for peanuts these days, courtesy of our friends in China. Mainly clones of boutique designs, so as long as you don't mind this, fill yr boots.
+1 for Joyo, I have a couple of theirs and they sound great.

Can anyone recommend anywhere for a restoration of a truly vintage instrument. Denmark Street the place to go?

Holy shit, I just got a hankering to try one of those cheap danelectro mini pedal fuzzes as I saw someone using one and figured it would be cheap. I think there were about 25 quid new. I had a couple of the other ones. Found a used one for £12... but the thread was from 2007. Googled some more... Cheapest one currently on Amazon UK is.... £257 plus shipping from Japan. Wtf!?

So its a 1966 (original) Fender Mustang. Work would be:
- Paint strip and refinish.
- Rewiring/soldering current wiring.
- Headstock repair. Current holes have been drilled too large to take regular sized tuners.
cheers!

Ah, paint looks non-original? And rough!
Scratchplate looks nice though -

Paint is not original.

All I can see is it may need a new scratchplate, looks lovely... Leave it as it is...

what does it sound like? is it playable?
leave it alone!

Super nice!
It was the French Toast Octave Fuzz (Foxx Tone Machine clone). Yeah it seems that the old Danelectro mini pedals are no longer available in the UK and perhaps because of some mad scarcity-related algorithm, something that you can still buy for $25 in the states is being flogged through Amazon at £250 shipped from Japan. Mental.
I had a couple of them years back and liked them fine. Will never be willing to pay 10 x the retail value though! I can't imagine any sane person would be.

Sweet Mustang!
A fairly affordable refin plus some woodwork/electronics is probably right up Philippe Dubreuille's street. A new scratchplate wouldn't be a problem, but I really like it too... vintage bodges are dead cool IMO.

Grazie. Deffo keeping the scratchplate. Its original and I like the bodge job.
It's not clear from the photos how poor the quality of the refinish is, also the headstock issues make it pretty unplayable as is. I'll get in touch with Philippe - Camden is more accessible for me than Denmark St. -

Dude, Camden is, like, two miles (?!?) from Denmark Street? Has Philippe moved?
Get a nice aged olympic white, will look stellar... #whiteisright #notracist

Cheers for that, I'd seen that they were marketed as copies using the same circuitry as the pricier models, just wondered how true that was.
I currently use a line 6 POD to get different sounds, but it's complicated to use as it's got so many settings, combined with a tiny Orange amp that's got two gains allowing a pretty wide range of tones I probably don't really need anything more.
Just getting a bit overexcited.
