Setting up gears can be a little fidly first time round, just be patient :)
Head tube looks very smart but is the lower headset bearing pressed all the way in? Looks like something isn't entirely straight in the picture - the headset and the paintwork don't seem to line up. Maybe it's just me?

I see what you mean!
I did have issues fitting the headset due to the original paint being so thick inside the tubing. I think it's a mix of needing a bit of adjusting & the paint isn't 100% straight : ) -

nice pics, it's gonna be a nice build with a 9-speed groupo!

Could get your LBS to face the bottom of the headtube?
The engraving on the ht is absolutely ace, though! -
• #6
I'll try and fix it myself, (mainly cause my LBS are a bit grumpy unless your buying a bike from them.)
Yeah, all the engraving and pantographs just set it apart from bikes I've had before. I spend far too long just admiring it! -

Sound like a shit LBS :(

Got a 9speed campagnolo cassette and rear campagnolo vento wheel which I spotted on eBay with 1 minute to go. Got it super cheap because of a small dent (doesnt affect wheel) BUT soon found two issues..
-

Yes. Carefully spread the rear triangle when inserting the wheel. Or cold set it . Sheldon has a tutorial, there is a lot to be found on this online.
Is the issue with the cassette, hub or both?
-

Hub, the cassette I've got is 27x1, and any coming up for sale are the same, I may have found one on eBay that's 26mm, just hoping it sells cheap.

Nice project!
Your fork looks like it has Columbus SLX fork blades by the way, neat.

Fantastic!

That's a beaut

Wow, it looks absolutely beautiful! If it wasn't for the touched up top tube and the zonda/vento wheels this would be a candidate for the porn thread...

Thanks!
In all honesty, with the very small budget I had, I got really lucky with the wheels (even tho they don't match) -
• #21
Don't get me wrong, the bike looks absolutely amazing! I don't mind the mismatch, au contraire I really appreciate builds on a budget. But you know how they roll over at the porn thread...

Beautiful.

Cheers!
Was looking for a new project and this lovely zullini (zullo&chesini) super strada frame appeared on the forum. I was originally going to go singlespeed, but as I've already got a plum vainqueur singlespeed build the exact same size/geometry I decided to try my hands at a geared bike and give my crappy knees an easier ride.
Here's how i got it, quite a few paint chips here and there, including a large one on the top tube:
Cleaned up the frame, covered up paint chips with nail polish, (will repaint properly in the future) cleaned up all the chrome and repainted the pantographed forks.
Added a Campagnolo headset, seat pin and nuovo record bb.
On a very tight budget (as always) Hoping 90's campagnolo 9speed parts, awaiting a cinelli A1&criterium cockpit to arrive and then whatever else I can get at the right price.
And will very much need advice setting up gears for the first time!
