  • New project!
Two years ago got this frameset for cheap from here (wanted the forks for another Alan, turned out the forks were not correct. Paid forks only, chap gave me whole frameset).
As I thought it was too small, I passed the bargain onto here (I think it went to Ireland...or Scotland).

Contacted Alberto from Alan and he said the crank on the lug on the head tube shouldn't be a problem.
Indeed the guy I sold it too rode it for two years, so I assume it's fine.

After two years, it came back to me. But now I know it's my size, so I'm building it up.
With a full Dura Ace 7400 groupset (again). The day I paid for the frameset, this nice DA 74xx popped up on the Franch eBay for peanuts (120 euro!)

Same day, also managed to grab a 25mm DA seatpost! These fuckers are very rare!
Already have a DA stem, so, as my Somec, this will be a complete DA again. Happy :)

    Mandatory pictures.

  • Sweet Alan!

    Nice story!

    Those tyres though...

    ;)

  • Were there for you mate :)

  • Much appreciated!

  • I knew you'd love them!

  • They are all yours!

  • More seriously, that's lovely.

I'm "over" my retro-fetish now, but I do have a soft spot for Alan.

    Those dropouts!

  • Why over? what happened to you?

  • Nice! I've always like Alan's as well, and that seatpost is nice. What rims are they?

  • Those wheels were just a test. I'll be putting, forgot to say, nice GPM Tecno 416 with tubulars, NOS.
I think those rims were Ambrosio though. They came with a Leader AX I bought a couple of months ago, but with unmatched hubs, a Veloce on the rear and a record for the front.

  • I CBA any more :(

I've done my time searching for obscure parts and trying to raise the dead back to life.

But that does mean I can relax and enjoy your labours all the more!

    Avanti!

  • Sempre avanti, mai indietro :)

  • Got a nice saddle to go for it :)

  • Great project! I'm sure it'll look bangin with the tecnos and their yellow stickers! Is it a DA 7400 or 7403?

  • Need to check all the components. Usually you find them mixed.

  • That's what I meant with DA 7403. As opposed to the older DA with single pivot brakes and down tube shifters. I know that not all parts of the latter are called 7400 (some are 7402 afaik) but that's how I distinguish them. This is gonna be one sweet Alan! Have you decided on the bar tape already?

  • Oh Ok, yes dual pivot brakes and STI. Same as on the Somec and Leader AX.

Bar tape will be yellow, but not sure yet which one...maybe a normal Cinelli corktape.

  • Yellow was also my initial thought. How about a blue and yellow weave to match the saddle? Might be too much though...

  • I think I have a tape blu/yellow...could be nice.

  • I do. This one.

  • Sweet, looks like a perfect march minus the hassle of a weave!

  • Yeah I think it'll look good. Will give it a try one of these days.

  • This one is almost ready to be built!

  • Tyres are ready
