I've always been surprised at how much French stuff like this sells for in France. The place is swimming in Jacques Dutronc and Nino Ferrer 4-trackers, yet shops seem to sell them for eBay prices. I've had most of mine from flea markets - 5 euro for a shoe box of groovy pop and cartoon themes :-)

I miss record shopping in France, 5 euro Ocora for days!

Belgium was always great for that stuff, I bought a mint Pierre Henry pic sleeve Psyche Rock EP for €1 in Brussels... Dutronc all over the place for pennies... The rarer stuff used to turn up too, quite regularly and always super cheap! I'm going back 15-20 years tho'...

Ha - I go to the Gers region in France quite a bit. Lots of table top sales in rural towns and villages to pillage. Got that same Pierre Henry pic sleeve for a euro at one in fact!
Another good score was a euro for Aphrodites Child's 666 lp. Vertigo spaceship (not swirl - not that lucky).

I think I gave my 666 away... Probably a swirl too... 😬

I've passed on about a dozen OK, but not great, cheap copies of the first Dutronc LP over the years... Still don't own one... Silly...

I play that Marc Aryan out all the time - did the March of the Mods thing the other week and they were all loving the Psyche/Fuzz/Bubblegum and Belgian pop

also this went down an absolute storm, which full circle was an RSD single release last year

Yeah it used to be a big spin of mine back when I played to actual dance floors, rather than quiet bars :-)
Not French or Belgian (although there's a tenuous link in that Aryan was half Turkish or something), but I got 2 copies of this in a little Istanbul book shop for virtually nothing years back. Now it's been comped and remixed, I'm really regretting swapping one of the copies for a pint! Especially as the disco heat is only half the track and you kind of need 2 copies to play it out.

Just discovered this thread, that's me sorted for this afternoon

Same here. Feel like it's one of those that is a little more expensive every time I see it and I keep regretting not picking it up the last time :-)
Dutronc's a regular in the 45 box on the rare occasion I do play out now. Especially this ep (also with 'mini mini mini')

I found a copy of that Santa Maria in a charity shop in Dorset, weirdly.
Here's my dancefloor filler/killer favourite. Can never tell how it's going to work.

I remember seeing NRBQ several times years ago when I was living in the US. Terry Adams was always stoned out of his mind but they always delivered. Once i saw them in Philadelphia with the Solar Arkestra playing behind them and of course they did this one.

Amazing - that sounds like a good line up!
I don't suppose you post on the VG+ (formerly vinyl vultures) forum do you? There's someone with the same username on there.

Not me though I approve :) Pharoah playing in London in July, and is VFM if you are a fan. My brother saw him in NYC last week where he played 6 days iirc at Birdland.

Sorry, i'm probably just going to ruin this thread with youtube videos now.
This just came on my big 'recorded from vinyl' playlist on shuffle. Such a great tune and utterly easy and cheap to pick up (b-side of 'Venus').https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J2HCcsPK9u4

Send me a postcard by Shocking Blue also

Yeah, although i think i prefer Hot Sand. That might just be me being obtuse though, as Postcard is the bigger (and pricier) club spin.

Going by what I've seen here in the last 24hrs, we'd all turn up with the same records at an LFGSS party... 😋😘🍻

here's a couple of semi obscure ones I throw in every now and then, just to keep 'em on their toes
I absolutely LOVE this Yaphet Kotto track - bonkers
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dXMrPVJAuZ0
and Crazy Elephant - pretty heavy for '69 really
That's a classic... Je Suis Ne Dans La Rue and Absolutment Hyde Park are my other faves...
