  • Such a nice bike that one!

  • ^^ Agreed. Can't wait to see yours!

  • oops, did I not post it?

Picked it up two weeks ago :)

    hold on....

  • Sorry awful phone pictures, I must take some better ones!

Had it two weeks and I've done 200miles on it, including the Ronde Van Calderdale....

It's sublime, like no other bike I've ridden or owned. I couldn't be happier with it. It also survived me getting left hooked on the RVC, which was a novel way to get the first scratch out of the way!! :)

  • Ooops, my bad. You posted a pic that Gareth sent you. Looks very nice, but I know it will be even better "in the flesh"!

    EDIT: Exquisite! ^^

  • Excellent. Well worth the wait!

  • Seen this in real life last Saturday at BC. Perfection!

  • Cheers matey!

It will be in the shop a lot during summer :)

  • How about a pair of these?

  • Now you're just being ridiculous.......

    :)

Yep, so many people have sent me photos I now feel obliged. Not looked at the (probably exorbitant) cost though....

  • $110 for the pair, plus postage. Unless uk distro has em.
    Go on, you're worth it.

  • Hi All, seeking info from you all as experts as I found a nice Brian Rourke 531 that won't fit me, but I knew needed a good home. Before I do all that I wanted to hear your thoughts. Started riding road bikes in 85, working as a teen in shops, then spent from age 27-45 (now) in shops so I understand the 531 material, vintage bikes (i love them!). I found this here in Austin. Both Bottom Bracket and Fork are Stamped with serial number 500. I believe was purchased by US Serviceman as it has bike registration sticker for Airfield. Any chance of help with more precise dating based on serial? Has Single Water Bottle Mounts and no braze on for downtube shifters. Similar to 81 Merckx I had.

  • Frane 500 should be 1977

  • One of my more recent retro builds. 1995 Rourkie 531C repainted by Jason and fitted with Record Ti 9 speed

  • My 1995 Rourkie. 531C and just repainted by Jason. It's built with Campag Record Ti 9 speed

  • it's really worth emailing Gareth at Rourke directly with the serial no. They're usually very helpful

  • I spoke to them yesterday over Frame number 555 - it was 77/78. That would make 500 a 1977 frame. They started C1973 and I understand were building 2 a week

  • Picked this one up from a nice guy on eBay. This is from 1987 with full C-Record including pedals, seatpost and 2nd gen Deltas. Just changed the saddle and tyres and it was ready to go

  • Sorry for clogging up the thread -I only came across it today and I have a soft spot for BR steel frames. The last one today I promise. This is my new 953 in a retro colour scheme. Went for a Chorus carbon 11 speed on this.

  • My 531C Rourke's serial number is 2795. Would that make it mid to late 80s? I've emailed Jason but never heard anything back.

  • Much later. My 85 bike is 1774 so yours would likely be a mid 90s bike. I'll check my orange one to see what number it is - mine is a 1995 frame

  • That's really interesting - thanks!

  • There's very little difference between the design and finish of my 87 and my 95 frames to be honest. Both skinny steel and both have DT bosses
