Get the fuck out of our thread then, pretender!
;)
When I got mine, they did a d-dimer blood test straight away - it's some measure of a protein in the blood that indicates the presence of a clot. When that came back positive it's highly likely there IS a clot and then they schedule an ultrasound for later that day. Once they found the clot, they got me onto the injections... and then forgot about me so I spent a month injecting while I should've been on Warfarin... idiots.
Speaking of which, I still haven't heard anything back from my second round of tests. How do I escalate a request in a hospital?

Asked for a member of staff this time and actually got through!

what they're subtly telling you is to fark off into private healthcare..
-
• #285
Maybe they should've done that before accepting their care duties.

There's other people on this planet? Well, fuck me.

Yeah, seems the NHS is prepping people for private. They gave me a certificate to prove that I have NOT had DVT, in case I ever get it in future, and I am using private insurance, and need to prove that I have not had it before.

On the vascular theme, I've been diagnosed with a Retinal vein occlusion (sort of like an eye version of a mini-stroke) which has left me with macular oedema. Vision with my left eye is narrowed vasoline-o-vision.
Supposed to be uncommon in the under 60's and I've checked out negative for all the usual causes (High blood pressure, high cholesterol, diabetes) and my neck veins and arteries are all normal on a neck ultrasound. So, one of those random things that will probably mean injections into the eye. yay.

Well, it's hereditary so yes, at least one parent.

Coincidentally, my maternal grandfather died of a blood clot to the brain.. or not coincidentally

Did you get tested for clotting factors?
There's only meant to be a small increase in risk with V Leiden Heterozygous (1 parent) but a large increase in risk if both parents have the gene (Homorozygous) or something like that? But I guess if you stack on top of the gene mutation a love for fucking up my body and you have my probs.
Wondering now if I should bother seeing GP for a doc appointment to get more info or just live with it?

Why not just have a lei-down. #inbeforeschick.

Did I get tested for clotting factors..? Yes I think I did; certainly went through a load of guff with the doctor. But seeing as (a) he cleared me and, (b) I was a bit depressed and dissociative, I'm just going to follow a simple healthy diet and exercise lifestyle, and live with having a gnarled 500 year old walnut tree for a right leg..

Welcome to getting older. Or maybe not.

If it's genetic I've been this way from birth. It just took 10hrs sat still on a plane after racing a 24hr to kick it up a notch.

oh, nothing to do with chronic vascular restrictive lifestyle habits...

My habits thin my blood and expand the size of my veins so I should've been in the clear...
The Blood pooling in my foot he thought was probably some capillaries that burst on the flight. I've had blood pooling in my foot before, after a knee injury.
Basically, they didn't find a clot, and the rest is a mystery. Let's call it a baker's cyst.
