Most of my friends are road bike guys and they all mimic the whole pro trend. All of them are running tiny frames, 150mm-ish stems, and a tons of seatpost. You get out on the hoods and it feels like your hands are a way out near the front of the tire. Just feels so odd.
Don't even get me started on the 200mm+ head tubes on a 53cm frame.
