I had been to some sort of safe-space vegan craft event with a very gender fluid friend and they were people he knew that we went out afterwards for a drink with.

Honestly, man, I think you might be slightly missing the point about how history (herstory? lel) has been written by a very specific group of people, and how views of mental health, gender, sexuality, behaviour (the list goes on) in the public consciousness are the result of research carried out in a system that is actively biased towards a certain group, within a certain part of the world (mental 'illness' is a particularly interesting one, many diagnoses are based on not conforming to middle class, western norms - it's not that long ago that many diagnoses were basically 'being a woman' - hysteria, for example).

Things are changing, but there're whole departments of critical psychologists and sociologists who would take issue with all of this:

As it turns out, the existence of educated white middle class men is awesome for people who are not any of those things. Obviously quite a lot of them are cunts, but I'm not even sure that cunts are disproportionately represented in their number relative to other groupings. I'm sure it's only an accident of history that white men got to be educated and middle class first, but it was that chain of events in human progress (basically the reformation, the enlightenment and the industrial revolution) which opened the floodgates for everybody else, regardless of gender or colour
