  • thanks for putting into pictures what I only could explain.

  • Was just a quick couple of pics after putting it together. Need some rise on the stem to get a good fit for me as there's no steerer to run spacers. If I have the tops of those bars and hoods horizontal I can't use the brakes comfortably when in the hooks. May well change cockpit in time but just built up with what I had in the parts bin for the moment... Any recommendations for matt carbon bottle cages?

  • New tyres fitted on the KX... From 25c to 27c but there is room for 30c I think... #fatcyclist

  • Managed to get some 2nd hand carbon tubulars for the look for a steal.
First time fitting tubs though and what a pain in the arse.
Didn't help that the previous owner had used about a tonne of tub glue which took me hours to remove.

  • Looks worth the effort though! Decal removal possible?

  • Perfect weather for a spin.... Kg176

  • Possible, but would require sanding through top laquer to the decals and then once removed relaquering.
I thought I'd try them out first and see how they roll.

  • Raced this today. I should a new photo though as there is a tasty berk saddle on it now and it is filthy from riding. Such a lovely ride.

  • Raced this today.

    Where was that?

  • Gycc race at St olaves i had to stop for crash and restart in the wrong gear while whoever was on the front thought lets go. Chased to close the substainal gap and get back on which i did but that was me done for. Just about clung on for dear life till the last 500m. Still last year i would have not got back on or blown up once i got back on. Progress of sorts.

  • Your bottle cage makes it look like your bike says 'WOK'.

  • Such a lovely ride.

Yet such a horrible look. Really not feeling the flush stem on road frames

  • @mdcc_tester it's a tricky one. I've seem some picturs of 795s and thought "YES!" yet others, like the pic above, just don't do it at all.

As long as LOOK don't end up looking as rotten as a Spesh Venge then they're not going too wrong...

  • They can look fine with decent saddle - bar drop.

  • @Sumo yeah that definitely helps.

  • They can look fine

I couldn't find one I liked the look of in the first few pages of google image search. If they dropped the down tube to fair in the underside of the fork crown like a Cervelo s5, the head tube would be as long as the seat tube :

  • This one's alright

  • This one's alright

I'll concede that they are less offensive in smaller sizes :-)

  • Lovely looking KX Light... apologies for the fishing expedition but if anyone's interested I'm selling mine, frame, forks, with headset fitted and carbon ergo post included. It's a size small at 51cm, please PM if interested, cheers.

  • @Sumo yep smaller frame size defo works.

@GreatSince78 I'd be all over it if it was medium or large.

  • Yeah if it was larger I would've held onto it too...

  • This seems like a decent deal for a 281, especially with a cheeky lowball best offer below the £145 BIN, but I'm still in the benchmarking stage of trying to figure out what LOOK might be right for me ;) any thoughts from the lookerati?

  • I saw that and do like. Would want to see close ups of that chainstay damage though.

  • Remember i am not a photographer i dontbyhink i have ever managed to take a good photo of anything. bottle cages are there to hold a bottle beyond that i could not care less. I need some different wheels in it but currently i just dont have the spare time to build them. I think they are a marmite bike you either get it or you don't. The proteam colours where last years. They where dropped this year so i could not have those. It goes like the clappers when i push on and that quite frankly is the whole point of it.

I actually agree about the saddle to bar drop asthetics but that is the problem i had. I knew if i went for the smaller size (medium) the top tube would be to short and while i would be able to have a bigger drop the position would not be good. I have a 130mm stem on that large frame so the position is far more stretched but with a shorter saddle to handle drop it is still comfortable. I am not that flexible. tried 140mm saddle to handle drop on another bike i have with a very long sqtem on a top tube the same length as the medium 795 and postition is fine but not perfect.

If look did a 140mm stem i coukc have gone for the medium frame which might have kept the proportions more appealing but alas they don't. So large it was and the position is just right and the rest is just athestics.

Generally bikes look better in smaller size shame i am tall.

  • From those photos the feame looks fine. The chainstay just looks paint chipped. For the momey it is worth a punt.
