  • Yeah you can, steel mudguard are a touch thinner and extremely stiff, I run 42mm on a 50mm mudguard (the Oak) and it work flawlessly.

    If you're happy tweaking it carefully and measuring it, go on.

    I've just chucked my SKS chromoplastics on for now. Mounting as a bit of a farce with the pannier rack getting in the way of the rear stays so happy to be bodging with old guards, once I figure out a better solution I'll replace.

    Wondering though, on a frame with track endsm re metal guards going to be stiffer than plastic and therefor make wheel removal more of a pain? I imagine they'll be stiffer...
